The beauty of handmade products lies in little things like an uneven surface, a slightly irregular border, or a heavier brush stroke – all beautiful small imperfections that make each product unique. But cutting wood, shaping clay and weaving threads by hand is a very time-consuming process.
We wanted to make that handmade feel available to more people. So, together with Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek, we developed new methods to work with raw materials like ceramics, wood and textiles and created products with a rough-hewn feel – but that you’d never know they came out of a machine.
That’s how the INDUSTRIELL collection was born – furniture and homeware with a handcrafted feel that everyone can enjoy.
The moulds used to cast the INDUSTRIELL terracotta vases were created from handmade prototypes – that’s why they all look slightly different. If you look closely, you might find two that are very similar, but never identical.
When we designed the INDUSTRIELL chair, we wanted to use as much of each tree as we could, keeping imperfections like knots, rough surfaces and changes in the grain, visible. The result is a chair that will bring a raw, organic feel to any home.
