The brand new range of HUSET (Swedish for “the house”) doll’s house furniture includes perfect mini reproductions of the KLIPPAN sofa, IKEA’s EXPEDIT storage unit, the LACK table, an IKEA STOCKHOLM rug, IKEA PS VÅGÖ chair and FAMNIG heart cushion.
Designed by the same team responsible for the main IKEA range – which now numbers 9,500 different products – the miniaturised sofa, storage and soft furnishings are utterly faithful to their full-sized counterparts, taken down to 1:15 scale.
What’s more – something every parent will be all too familiar with – kids are sometimes more interested in the packaging than the contents, so even the box that the new range comes in can be turned into a toy. Packaging printed with illustrations of an IKEA lamp, clock, frame and books, they can be painted and cut out to create a dream home.
Carol McSeveney Children’s IKEA business leader said:
“Until now, parents whose kids want to create a modern home for their toys have had to pay hundreds for miniature versions of home design classics. The HUSET range takes some of the most popular products in our range and makes them available to everyone at pocket money prices.
“Our research has shown that lots of kids want to create Doll’s Houses for their toys that reflect their own homes – furnished in a more modern style, with plenty of space to store all the accessories of course.
“Whether Barbie needs a rug for her yoga or a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle needs somewhere to lounge after a hard day’s crime-busting, this is furniture that would grace the home of any Disney Princess.”
The HUSET range comes in a collection of all six products and the set will be available for just €13. The new range launches in the new IKEA catalogue in August 2013.
