Comfortable Anonymous reviewerI love this chair, as I was looking for something comfortable and easy to clean and scratch proof, as I have 2 cats and it's hard to keep leather chair and cloth cover chair to keep it clean from cat hair and cat scratch, but this chair works best for me, no more cat hair sticking to it, no more cat scratches. And it's comfortable and easy to assemble. And color matches my white and black marble dinning table. Happy with the purchase.

Really nice chairs!Anonymous reviewerLovely sturdy chairs. Easy to put together and arrived well wrapped so they didn't get scratched. They look lovely with my table. A friend had the same chairs and I found them comfortable to sit on and liked the look of them. They aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Dangerous , avoid at all costs !Anonymous reviewerAbsolutely dangerous. As other stated all 8 of my chairs have cracked on the seat. Didnt think anything of it other than some cracks would pinch my skin occasionally and looked unsightly but one this morning ive sat down and the back has gone on it, my back is red raw and badly scratched . Avoid for ur own safety
Seat crackedAnonymous reviewerThe same as other reviewers, we've have 4 Tobias chairs for about 4 years or so, and have experienced one of the chairs suddenly cracking in the front of the seat.
I like tgese chairs as they're comfortable and go nicely with our glass table, but if this is a known fault and common, l won't be risking purchasing a replacement, especially as other customers have experienced the entire back of the chair suddenly breaking off.
Needs a redesignAnonymous reviewerI have bought many Tobias chairs over the years. Nearly all have cracked down the middle and it is very annoying that you have to buy a complete chair and not just the acrylic seat.
I repaired one chair by screwing an aluminium strip across the chair to prevent further cracking. That repair has lasted many years.
It is quite obvious that the front section of the seat needs extra strength to stop the crack starting and I cannot understand why IKEA have not realised this
Comfortable but potentially dangerousAnonymous reviewerCurrently looking for new kitchen chairs and saw these still on sale. We had four of these in our kitchen for eight years or so & they were great until about three years ago they started to crack in the middle at the front, one after the other. We kept using the one remaining chair assuming it would eventually do the same but it did much worse. One day I leant back & the whole of the back sheared off just above the seat & my upper back hit the floor hard. The impact caused a serious rotator cuff injury that needed multiple visits to my GP/physiotherapists, as well as an X-ray when the excruciating pain persisted, plus many sleepless nights and multiple painkillers. Lengthy rehab with a personal trainer helped me to regain a full range of motion, but there’s still some pain if I need to move my arm in one particular direction.
An internet search showed me the same breakage has happened to other people, so it’s a known fault, yet IKEA are still selling them. For your own safety, AVOID!!

Poor design: DO NOT BUY! Anonymous reviewerFirst off, do NOT buy these chairs if you have kids; they are a fingerprint magnets! They look great initially, but they scratch really easily and need constant cleaning. Fair enough, I can accept that. However, one of the chairs cracked down the middle. No doubt IKEA will say they are outside their warranty and so tough. For £85 I wouldn’t expect a chair to crack after 2 years simply by sitting on it! This is the first time in 10 years I feel let down by an IKEA product.

TOBIAS clear chairAnonymous reviewerMy teen daughter picked this chair for her vanity desk, she is happy with it. Cost £85 so was a bit pricey for what it is but looks good and was easy to put together, comes in two parts so just had to attach the leg base to the seat unit.

Seats crack over time...! Anonymous reviewerHave a look at lower rated reviews and you will see what we have experienced - took longer for our chairs to crack than some, had them a few years now, but 2 out of 6 chairs cracked and one unusable. Price has shot up over the years too so replacements £30 more than when we bought them!
The seats do get marked over time too.
