Smart looking seat but a little bit too firmVerified BuyerThis is a good size, smart looking seat-with good back and arm support. It does not take up much space. The seat cushion is however a little bit too firm.4
Love our new chairsCatherine9We have just purchased 4 of these and absolutely love them. They go perfectly with the black Ingatorp table that we have also just bought. They are super comfy and the covers are easy to remove and wash if you spill anything on them. Would highly recommend.4
Why replace your old style of chair?foxlorenzWhy replace your old style with a chair that is not comfortable? We have a couple of the old style upholstered dining chair with arm rests. The old style chair has a lower back and straight arm rests. This old style meant that the chair back was very supportive of the lumbar spine. The new chair comes up much higher behind the shoulder blade. Possibly a cushion could fix this. The higher back means it is a more imposing piece of furniture and somehow the old style was more discreet. The new style chair has arm rests which are curved and and slowly slanting, which might suit some people but they don't suit me. The old style chair had straight arm rests that didn't either curve or slope and somehow feel less supportive. I think the curve stops your elbows from resting further back, which means you have to have your arms forward to rest on the arm rests. Also the slope of the new style chair gives a sensation of the arm slipping forward. As you can probably tell I really liked the old style chair and would buy more if they were still in stock. I can understand the need to bring in new items and to refresh and renew old styles but in this case I do not think that there has been an improvement. The new style chair is so very similar yet totally different. Would it be possible for IKEA to stock both to cater for different body types? Everyone in my family finds the old style chair extremely comfortable including the cat. We only discovered that the old style upholstered dining chair with arms was discontinued when we made a special trip to IKEA to buy the cat his own chair. We did not buy this new style upholstered dining chairs with arms because none of the humans in my family found it comfortable or aesthetically pleasing. Already having the old style chairs we did not want to mix and match with the new style. The cat will just have to lump it and continue sharing a chair with us and not sitting at the table for meals.2
