You can easily create a storage solution that fits your needs and your space by combining frames in different heights and depths.

The frame is easy to install by just clicking it together, no tools are needed.

The storage solution is easy to assemble, disassemble and reassemble if you want to adapt it, bring it with you when you move or pass it on to someone else so it can stay in use much longer.

Reviews

Easy to construct.Anonymous reviewerEasy to construct, no tools needed. Good and sturdy.5
CupboardAnonymous reviewerWe were very disappointed with this, poor quality very flimsy back panel wouldn't even go in so ended up in the junk pile2
Flimsy constructionAnonymous reviewerThe back panel on this unit had no real method of attachment other than sitting in grooved slots. As a result the panels keep bowing in the middle where Folded. I had to add some additional choc-bloc fasteners that i had hanging about from an old flatpack to prevent the back panels from falling/popping out. This added stiffness and made the unit usable. Definitely not the good construction style I expected from ikea unit.1
Easy to assembleAnonymous reviewerI was apprehensive about the Platsa system after reading reviews on here but actually found it easy to fit together and not at all flimsy when in place. I got a 180cm x 60cm frame with drawers and shelves, all of which I put together on my own with no difficulty... you just have to look carefully at the illustrated instructions. Very good value.5
FlimsyAnonymous reviewerNot very well constructed, honeycomb, making them very flimsy and not at all robust2
Not fit for purpose Anonymous reviewerI complained nothing alligns and it's cheaply made the back doesn't fit and the shelves are wonky ! I've built many Ikea items this is the worst and I think you've changed your standards ! Put me off 1
Satisfactory Anonymous reviewerSatisfactory 5
Stupid wardrobe buildAnonymous reviewerAlthough it looks great now its built, it comes with no instructions, you have to guess the build and where things line up. When you get to the bottom, the last drawer doesnt fit so we've had to remove the runner and have it as a light item drawer. Took much longer than expected to built and would of expected more from ikea2
PlatsaAnonymous reviewerIt is very flimsy. But for the price it's ok. Bought it for a broom cupboard in the kitchen. Fitting the back board is a challenge on your own, does say two man/woman job. Must be screwed to the wall as the weight of the door we chose tips it forward. Will be buying another for our little toilet room.4
Amazing Wardrobe!Anonymous reviewerAmazing wardrobe and such a great price! Love that you can build your own with so many different pieces/colours. Definitely recommend! 5
FineAnonymous reviewerThey're definitely not very sturdy for the purpose they're meant to have, but they're a good size, they look nice, and they're easy to put together. The only confusion I'm having is with step 10, which plugs up the holes left by the screw-back item to prop the wardrobe to the wall. The pack doesn't come with the screws shown, and even if it did, there is no anchor on the other side of the board for the screw to catch to make it secure. So I'm very confused as to how this cap is meant to stay in place, unless they want you to buy screws to screw the cabinet into the wall? Any help would be appreciated!3
Great product, easy to assemble Anonymous reviewerLove the product, easy to assemble. Would have given it 5 stars if it came with a base to lift it of the ground. It comes with feet which are ideal on a flat surface, but even on full height still wouldn't open on a carpeting. I've had to build a base to fit the units on4
GreatAnonymous reviewerWas easy to assemble. The most important thing is to pay attention to how the lower drawer is fixed as if done wrong would cause problems closing it. I think the instructions were easy to follow. Assembled it in 2 hours. 5
Awful Anonymous reviewerThe back board panel is impossible to fix, it’s does not slide in as the picture shows. Also the whole frame is extremely flimsy, this new range that clicks together is absolutely awful looks as though it’s going to collapse before the clothes are even hung! 1
Walk in wardrobeAnonymous reviewerBought this as part of refit for a walk in wardrobe at our holiday lodge. Was a bit anxious reading the reviews after ordering, especially as it’s ages since I tackled a flat pack assembly. However the frame was really easy to assemble, the backboard slotted in easily once the frame was correctly aligned (did need an extra pair of hands here though) and though the fibreboard construction is fairly lightweight, it didn’t feel flimsy. Bought the mirror door to complete the wardrobe and despite other reviews, found it easy to fit to the frame once in position. Have left the handle off as Ican’t work out how to fix it on properly 4
Frame for Plarsa wardrobeAnonymous reviewerEasy to assemble and all parts fitted to frame neatly to make Platsa wardrobe5
Platsa units Anonymous reviewerGreat unit easy to make and versatile 5
Back impossible to get onAnonymous reviewerThe backs of both the units were impossible to get on despite following the instructions. The slot and rhe board seemed to be same size and the slot in the cupboard was rough meaning it's impossible to slide the back down. Had to sand the slot down and take some material of the back board to make it fot3
Easy to assemble Anonymous reviewerPurchased two of these frames and they were easy to assemble. I bought the doors and drawers separately which were also easy to put together. Bit pricy though. 4
Very flimsy and impossible to construct and parts missing.Anonymous reviewerI've just received my Platsa wardrobe and putting the frames together is very easy. However despite following the pretty useless instructions (am I supposed to have extra bits/clips etc these are missing if so!), it split when putting the first pieces together. The side panels rattle when moved and you can hear bits shaking around inside as if its all crumbed apart. It's as strong as cardboard in water! I've had many Ikea products and consider myself adept at flat pack, but this is as sturdy as paper. The flimsy back panel also refuses to go on, I've given up on the doors as they don't align at all Given the price, you're essentially paying for something akin to wet paper mâché (which once set is probably stronger). Never have I been so disappointed with an Ikea product and I don't recommend this at all it's a waste of money. 1

The storage that changes with you

Our living space is often limited, and it can be a challenge to find a place for everything. With PLATSA storage system, we wanted to create a simple, changeable storage solution that you can rebuild and add to, build vertically or horizontally, to the side or in between. On top of everything else, the price should be low but the quality should be high. The solution: the right quality in the right place.

"All you need is your hands," says product developer Freddy Kramer while clicking together one PLATSA frame after another. Yes, clicking. The secret is a type of plug called a wedge dowel. Freddy goes on to explain why assembling or taking frames apart easily is an important detail. "People's lives are changing more and more today ─ we move more often, live in smaller spaces and maybe share a home with others at times. That's why our needs don't look the same throughout life."

Take apart and rebuild

Freddy shows how the frames can be arranged vertically, horizontally or like steps, to then be completed with shelves, wire baskets, clothes rail, drawers and doors. "Even the exterior can be used. You can place hooks there or a clothes rail which is fixed between two frames."

Love in a white box

For PLATSA to be truly long-lasting, quality was just as important as flexibility and ease of assembling. But improving quality without adding to the price is not easy. "Right quality in the right place," Freddy says, and opens a cabinet door. "Here on the outside of the door, which you see and touch every day, we've used a matt foil with fine texture, while the inside, which is not as exposed, is coated with a simpler base foil." The PLATSA project took a lot of time and commitment. But it also gave results. "Those empty white boxes for the frames might not look like much at first glance, but they’re actually white boxes filled with love,” Freddy says, smiling.

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fibreboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
