Functional and easy to useAnonymous reviewerI like that it is extra long which makes it really easy to use. I hang it on a peg so can grab it whenever I need.5
IdealAnonymous reviewerBest shoehorn ever. Really good length. Strong. So easy to use for my ankle boots.5
Good qualityAnonymous reviewerGood service5
Ease of useAnonymous reviewerThis shoehorn is just right as it is long enough to not having to bend down when putting your shoes on. The Ugly Sisters in Cinderella could have done with that one, but then they weren’t meant to get the Prince…5
Brilliant shoehornAnonymous reviewerBest shoe horn we have ever had no bending involved, can put by walking boots so easy now .5
Fantastic helpAnonymous reviewerThis is a good, well made product that helps greatly if you struggle with bending to put foot wear on. Looks like it will last a long time also.5
FantasticAnonymous reviewerThis is what I've been needing all my adult life. Getting any sore on is now so effortless. Can't recommend enough.5
Simply wonderful...Anonymous reviewerThe last one, l will ever have to buy5
ExcellentAnonymous reviewerThis is great, the other long shoe horns were good but this is a proper game changer. Stronger longer and more comfortable to use , especially with boots5
Bent within weeksAnonymous reviewerI had two of these and both bent almost instantly making them unusable (or dangerous!) So disappointing as they look much sleeker than the plastic ones.1
Long length & strongAnonymous reviewerGreat value, saves bending & the shoehorn doesn't twist unlike plastic ones.5
IdealAnonymous reviewerBought to replace old plastic one - this is much better5
Good value good productAnonymous reviewerLonger length makes it very easy to use 5
Weak metal, plastic ones are better!Anonymous reviewerVery disappointed in these, I thought that with them being metal they would last a long, long time, but they don’t. I’m pleased to see the plastic ones, JORDART, are back, cheaper too and although they don’t last forever they are far better value than OMTANKSAM.1
Okay…Anonymous reviewerSo we got one of these a while ago (end of last year) but it has since needed replacing due it bend near the end 3
Great productAnonymous reviewerFantastic product. So glad they started selling them again, brought a few more 5
Excellent shoe hornAnonymous reviewerTall enough and strong enough to cope with my bad treatment of shoes etc5
Great idea ..... BUT....Anonymous reviewerthe shoe horn is a good long length HOWEVER- the quality is extremely poor. I don't know what it's made of because it doesn't say on the label My guess is that it's very thin aluminium. It's too weak and it's already bent a number of times. Not up to Ikea's usual standard and I would not recommend as its way too flimsy.1
Boots Anonymous reviewerExcellent for boots and wellies 5
Quality Anonymous reviewerExcellent quality for money .Excellent length no need to bend down to put your shoes on 5

Because we all need a hand sometimes

We don't always like to admit it, but at some time in life we all could use a little more support around the home. It might be a more supportive chair when pregnant, a longer shoehorn after running a marathon, or just more everyday assistance due to the natural process of ageing. That’s where the OMTÄNKSAM range comes in. Designed with input from ergonomists, physiotherapists and researchers in the care industry, it makes activities around the home safer, easier and more comfortable. Little surprise that the Swedish word OMTÄNKSAM simply means "caring”.

Our creative leader Britt Monti was the main force that pushed the project forward. "If you look into IKEA catalogues from the 60's you'll see we used to speak about comfort and support for older people or people with back problems for example," Britt explains. "But since the 80's we just didn't have this customer in mind when developing a range." Britt spoke with researchers, physiotherapists and doctors as well as people working in the caretaking field. The research gave a better picture on how best to support the body in doing basic household activities.

Style and ergonomic design can work together

"We wanted the range to be something that you would be proud to have in your home from a style perspective, the only difference is that in function it's more user friendly and supportive." For Britt one of the standouts has been a new take on tableware. "I've been interviewing people living in elderly homes and one thing that stood out was that a lot of people stopped using their porcelain when they ate because they're afraid it would break, or that they might feel clumsy using it," Britt says. The OMTÄNKSAM range helps people keep their independence and do the things they've always been able to do, whether it's putting on shoes, enjoying a drink or getting out of their chair.

What is steel?

Steel has unique characteristics when it is stretched and shaped since it remains strong. It provides strength to everything from skyscrapers and cars to bed frames and outdoor furniture. The steel industry is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production and stronger steel qualities. It doesn’t lose any of its properties when recycled and today steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world.
