The chair cover is made from Vissle fabric in polyester, which is dope-dyed. It’s a durable material with a smooth weave and a nice two-tone effect.

Looks great, but it's awful to sit onAnonymous reviewerOnly a few months after use, it was already extremely uncomfortable to sit on. Cushioning is hard, elbow rests are so hard it's painful to rest your elbows on them. Worst thing, was the awful clicking and cluncking after every small movement. Luckily, ikea was good to return with no hassle. 1

Very uncomfortableAnonymous reviewerI am 5'10" and this chair's lumbar support does not align with my lower back at a comfortable height. The lumbar support and arm rests are not adjustable too. Very uncomfortable. My posture is getting worse trying to find comfort in this chair so I am gonna have to get a different chair. 2
Great looks but questionable qualityAnonymous reviewerI have 2 of these chairs, bought relatively recently, one at the beginning of the year and another about 5 months later. They look fantastic in my office and the initial comfort was great for a tall person like myself (6'3), constantly having upper back pains due to long hours at my desk in rather smaller and uncomfortable chairs. The issue with them (i.e. Markus chairs) is that after less than half a year the cushions started being quite flat such that I can feel the base of the seat with my bottom. Also, the whole seating base on one of them got wobbly, also after less than half a year of usage and I'm not that heavy (~100kg). Other annoyances with this chairs were quality control issues, like chips or dents on the armrests or star base and uneven arm pads or cushions. It's a shame about the Markus chair as it has an unbeatable price, and for me, the initial comfort was much much better than the stupidly expensive Herman Miller Embody Gaming chair, which costs 10x more! 2
Comfortable sitting but very uncomfortable headrestAnonymous reviewerGood customer care from Ikea Team and delivery. Easy to assemble. Very comfortable sitting and hand rests. However, the headrest makes it very uncomfortable as it pushes my head forward.3
No lumbar or neck supportAnonymous reviewerI like the style, light design, so it doesn't feel heavy and bulky in the environment. But there's no lumbar support, though, the spine curves slightly so after some time I feel pain. The head rest is high, so no support to the neck, which is tensed because the headrest pushes the top of the head slighlty forward. Basically, as you sit, there'll be a slight convex curve from the bottom of the spine all the way to the top of the head. I'm using a lumbar support cushion for chairs, which is a half-moon shaped foam cushion that attaches to the chair with an elastic band, which takes care of the lumber support issue.2

Material

What is polyester?

Polyester is a durable, quick-drying and insulating material that is optimal to use for textiles and as filling in pillows, quilts and furniture. The material is made from crude oil – a limited resource. Since IKEA doesn’t want to contribute to more virgin oil being used, we are now gradually switching to recycled and traceable polyester from sources like PET bottles. What’s nice is that polyester can be recycled over and over, without changing or losing its great qualities.
