The push-open function requires a space between the frame and the drawer front to allow the drawer to be pushed to open. The small gap is necessary to allow this function and is not a product deviation.

Absolutely shocking. Anonymous reviewerMy partner has built IKEA stuff for years and in the past it has generally been a good experience. Not this one. What on earth are IKEA playing at? It's obvious that the Besta range is modular and can be adapted for different styles, but the instructions tell you how to assemble each of the parts but not how to put them together to make the whole unit. We bought the model with two drawers at the top and two cupboard doors at the bottom, but nothing shows you which holes to use to assemble the drawer runners or the hinges. When my partner finally got the hinges on the doors they don't fit flush. It is still laying in bits on our lounge floor and I'm tempted to demand someone come out to put it together at no charge to us. A call to customer service just gave us the option of searching Youtube videos or taking a video of the issue and dealing with a chat bot online. We both have businesses to run and don't have time for this. IKEA have truly lost the plot on this one. We won't be back.1
Complicated and misaligned screw holesAnonymous reviewerToo much trouble to build and the inner middle panel had misaligned screwholes with the side panels, so the drawers and doors arent perfectly straight.1
Terrible InstructionsAnonymous reviewerCabinet nice, as expected, but only nice once spending a lengthly amount of time trying to figure out how to fit the drawer above the cupboard door. It only comes with instructions for other Besta combinations, not for this particular one. In the end I had to turn the drawer front upside down and measure and drill for a handle myself. This is all doable, but it took me an hour of trials to find a solution. It needs description of what height the drawer runners need to be and different positioned holes to attach the drawer front! I like a flat pack project, but I was rather disappointed and frustrated with this considering the price and lack of instructions. Usually Ikea instructions are very literal but this failed massively.2
Sturdy cabinet with good looksAnonymous reviewerOrdered for storage. Very sturdy (after securing to wall) and looks good. Only complaint would be the instructions. I found that after completing some of the instructions, I was having to undo again to complete (eg to fit the feet). That said, I had bought 2 and they were completed in a day on my own. I did find that handles were not really necessary, even though I had purchased some.4
