Tips for a successful outdoor party

26 April 2018

Fix a simple feast outside and celebrate summer with your loved ones. Get inspired by our tips to make planning your gathering a breeze.

Organise a spontaneous and summary barbeque for your nearest and dearest! Use lighting to create instant cosiness. Try IKEA SOLVINDEN decoration for lighting!

Create an inviting al fresco dining spot

Mixing odd pieces of furniture, textures and colours will help the atmosphere to feel carefree and cosy. Make it easy for yourself by using what you already have at home. Put down rugs to make the overall impression more homely. Use throws and cushions to turn no-maintenance outdoor seats into comfortable extra places to sit – the throws can also be used as wraps as the sun goes down.

Use the power of presentation when it comes to serving your food. Try a stylish serving basket such as IKEA SOMMAR 2018 3-tier serving basket in black steel!

Laying the table

If space is tight, try putting all the food on the table. Food wrapping is ideal for handheld food such as burgers. Just sit the food in a serving basket, along with fresh seasonal vegetables for guests to munch on.

Set the mood with deco and dreamy lights

When night falls maximise cosiness with battery powered lamps that are handy for places where there are no sockets, like the great outdoors. We went for solar-powered pendant lamps and an LED lighting chain that you can leave out all summer. Just personalise with your favourite decorations — we used minimalistic white globes.

We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
