Home idea with IKEA: how to add coziness and create a productive vibe in an open office
Janus and Tõnis founded the company "Õpilasreisid" 16 years ago and today they offer more than 200 student trips every year, most of them in the spring period. However, this means that in addition to the main employees, the office has seasonal employees to help, and it is also necessary to store the equipment for the season. IKEA interior designer Hannele Saagpakk set out to solve the company's furnishing challenges once and for all.
Before: functional but not too cozy
The company's office is equipped with several desks and workspaces, but lacks structure and coziness. People working here miss a meeting table and a rest area. In addition, the company has a lot of memorabilia and clothes for summer workers, but no space for storing them.
Pops of color and characteristic details
Whether artificial or real, greenery gives any room a cozier look and adds color to work life. In this office, green plants can be found both in the plant wall of the relaxation corner and in the frame with castors that serves as a mini garden, filled with plant pots. The colorful posters on the picture shelves attached to the wall also help to enhance and energize the atmosphere.
Tips and tricks to furnish a similar room
- A large room can be divided into more private areas with curtains hung on rails.
- Live or artificial plants make every room more colorful and cozy.
- In the office, don't be afraid to use soft materials (sofas, decorative pillows, carpets, curtains). They create a homely feeling and increase work efficiency.
