Coronavirus: Please note our information on the current situation

Welcome back! Our IKEA stores will open again on 11 May 2020 – with strict adherence to the federal government’s guidelines relating to hygiene standards, the maximum number of people present in the store, etc.

We are currently doing our utmost to process all incoming orders. Due to the extraordinary situation, orders may be subject to delays and you may also need to wait longer for answers to your calls and e-mails.

We deeply regret this and ask for your patience and understanding. We are doing our utmost to ensure that we can reliably be there for you over all channels once again as quickly as possible.

Current delivery times:

  • NEW: Express parcel service: 72 hours
  • Express deliveries by truck: 72 hours
  • Standard deliveries by truck: around 18 days

Information about a delivery that has already been booked can be found here: Order tracking

In order to take the strain off our parcel centre and parcel delivery services, we have decided to not accept any more parcel delivery orders until 18 May 2020.

We will deliver any parcel delivery orders that had already been placed with us as at 28 April 2020 as quickly as possible. (Delivery takes around 42 days)

In the meantime, the following alternative to parcel deliveries is available to you:

Until 10 May 2020, if you select express delivery by truck when booking online, we’ll deliver your order within 72 hours at the same price as standard delivery by truck (not valid for parcel deliveries and not valid for sofa combinations where the delivery is already included).

Since the health of our customers, our co-workers and our suppliers is our top priority, IKEA and its suppliers that carry out orders for IKEA are adhering to the official guidelines laid down by the FOPH. (such as consistent distancing and hygiene routines, more frequent cleaning and the wearing of gloves).

A message from Jessica Anderen, Country Retail Manager and Chief Sustainability Officer, IKEA Switzerland

These are extraordinary times and I know that, like all of us here at IKEA, many of you are concerned about coronavirus (COVID-19). Our thoughts are with all those affected and the people working tirelessly to care for them.

Especially in these unpredictable and uncertain times, one realizes that home becomes even more important. IKEA is committed to helping you to “Fill your life with home” - to fill your days with more moments of being and feeling at home. However, due to the extraordinary circumstances, with tightened security and safety measures, and very high online demand, we are experiencing longer delivery times and many of you have questions regarding your orders which we want to answer on this website.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the very committed and hard-working co-workers at IKEA Switzerland. Despite all the constraints that we are dealing with, it is truly amazing to see how the IKEA values connect and guide us in these unprecedented times.

The health and safety of our co-workers and customers across Switzerland is our main priority in everything we do.

Thank you for your patience and stay healthy.

Your Jessica Anderen

    Shopping in an IKEA store

When will the IKEA stores open again?

Our IKEA stores will open again on 11 May 2020 - with strict adherence to the federal government’s guidelines relating to hygiene standards, the maximum number of people present in the store, etc.

    Online shopping

    Can I order online?

Yes. We are still here for you 24 hours a day. The following options are available to you:

    • NEW: Express parcel service – We will deliver your package to your front door within 72 hours. This service is only available for online orders and in certain regions. It will appear automatically in the last step of the order process provided we deliver to your postcode and you have selected products that can be delivered using this service. – You can find more information about this here

    • Standard deliveries by truck – Due to the exceptional situation and the high order volume, orders may be subject to delays.

    • Express deliveries by truck – To guarantee you the shortest possible delivery time, we have found a way to offer express delivery within 72 hours in many parts of Switzerland. This option is unfortunately not available for all items. If express delivery is possible for your order, it will be offered to you during the ordering process directly.

    • Good to know: Express deliveries at the same price as standard deliveries: until 10 May 2020, we will be offering express deliveries for CHF 20 cheaper, at the same price as standard deliveries.

    • Collection from a store (Click & Collect or IKEA Collect-Box) or an IKEA Pick up Point – further information can be found here.

    • Parcel deliveries – Our parcel centre is currently stretched to its limits. The parcel delivery services that we work with are also overstretched. Delivery times are now significantly longer as a result.

In order to take the strain off our parcel centre and parcel delivery services, we have decided to not accept any more parcel delivery orders until 18 May 2020. We deeply regret this and ask for your patience and understanding.

We will deliver any parcel delivery orders that had already been placed with us as at 28 April 2020 as quickly as possible. (Delivery takes around 42 days)

Please use our order tracking tool at IKEA.ch. If deliveries are delayed or delivery dates changed, we will contact you.

Try adding the item you wish to buy to your shopping list. In some cases it is possible to buy the item this way. When you click on the shopping list, it will say “How would you like to receive your order” at the bottom. Enter your postcode. If there is an alternative option for you, it will be displayed here.

If this does not work either, you will unfortunately have to wait until the item becomes available again.

We're receiving a lot of orders at the moment. For this reason, certain delivery windows are fully booked. If this is the case for you, please select an alternative delivery window.

    Deliveries and collections

When will I receive my delivery?

We will keep you informed about the status of your delivery. Please use our Track & Trace tool at IKEA.ch. If deliveries are delayed or delivery dates changed, we will contact you immediately.

    For package deliveries, please note:

    • In order to take the strain off our parcel centre and parcel delivery services, we have decided to not accept any more parcel delivery orders until 18 May 2020. We deeply regret this and ask for your patience and understanding.

    • Parcel deliveries have no fixed delivery date.
    • As soon as your order reaches our delivery partner DPD, you will be notified about the exact time and date of delivery.
    • It may happen that your parcel delivery is split into two packages and that these are not delivered simultaneously. Please be patient. The second package will be sent to you as quickly as possible. Thank you.

What are the current delivery times?

Our express deliveries by truck usually take 72 hours to reach your home. Delivery times for standard deliveries and package deliveries are a little longer than usual due to the large volume of orders we are currently receiving. Thank you for your patience.

    • Express deliveries by truck: around 72 hours
    • Standard deliveries by truck: around 18 days

How can I avoid coming into contact with someone during delivery?

Since the health of our customers, our co-workers and our suppliers is our top priority, IKEA and its suppliers that carry out orders for IKEA are adhering to the official guidelines laid down by the FOPH. (such as consistent distancing and hygiene routines, more frequent cleaning and the wearing of gloves).

    Deliveries by truck
If you would prefer our delivery partners to leave your deliveries by the front door rather than bring them into your flat, please let our delivery partners know when they contact you prior to delivery.

    Parcel deliveries
Our service partner DPD will deliver your package to your home directly. There is also the option to grant a signature release authorisation. DPD will send you a link as soon as they have received your package. Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to pick up your package from a DPD pick-up shop.

    Express parcel service
Our delivery partners will deliver to your front door. If you are not at home or do not open the door, the package will be left for you by your front door.

Can I pick up my ordered furniture at an IKEA Pick up Point (PUP Chur / Saxon)?

Yes. All deliveries can currently be picked up at the Chur and Saxon Pick-up Points.

Can I pick up my ordered furniture at a store (Click & Collect or IKEA Collect Box)?

    • Click & Collect (collection from an IKEA store):

Click & Collect orders (collection in an IKEA store) are possible for all IKEA stores in Switzerland.

Services: assembly, planning and other services

Yes. Here you can find more information.
All assembly types are available online.

The health of our customers, our co-workers and our suppliers is our top priority. IKEA and all companies working to support IKEA are adhering to the official guidelines laid down by the FOPH (such as for example consistent distancing and hygiene routines, more frequent cleaning and the wearing of gloves).

If you would like to book an assembly, please click here.

Can I still use the disposal service?

Unfortunately, disposal at our stores is not currently possible. You can continue to use the disposal service in combination with delivery, however. Please note that this option is not possible in combination with express deliveries.

    Kitchen and bathroom installation

If you are planning on buying a new kitchen or bathroom, use our expert planning online. We will be happy to help you with the planning, delivery, and in many places in Switzerland also with installation.

In the canton of Ticino and in southern parts of Graubünden, installations are currently only possible to a limited extent.

How can I book a planning appointment with IKEA?

Our planning appointments for kitchens, wardrobe systems and living room storage solutions cannot currently take place in IKEA stores. Instead, we’re now offering you online expert planning, virtual planning through our kitchen, wardrobe or living room experts. Further information and the option to arrange an appointment can be found here:

How can I book a consulting session for IKEA for Business customers at IKEA?

Our consulting appointments cannot currently take place in IKEA stores. Instead, our dedicated IKEA for Business specialists offer you a virtual consulting session to provide inspirational and practical solutions for your business. More information and the option to make an appointment can be found here:

Can I still hire a vehicle?

Due to the closure of our IKEA stores, it is currently not possible to rent a delivery truck. All reservations will be automatically cancelled and customers concerned will be informed by SMS or e-mail.

Can I still book the sewing service?

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer our sewing service. If you have already placed an order then we will get in touch.

    Exchanges, returns and complaints

How can I make a complaint or exchange an item?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer exchanges or returns over the counter, since the IKEA stores are currently closed.

As of 11 May 2020, exchanges and returns are possible again in all IKEA stores.
Your health and the health of our co-workers is our highest priority. We have therefore extended the exchange and return deadlines (see below). We ask our visitors to consider postponing all exchange and returns, which do not need an urgent processing, for the first couple of weeks of the re-opening phase. Thank you for your understanding.

Returns and exchanges of items that have already been delivered are possible in almost all regions of Switzerland. Please get in touch and we'll be happy to help. Please be prepared for slightly longer waiting times than usual.

The return period for my product expired during the lockdown. Can I still bring it back after the re-opening of the IKEA stores?

Yes, of course. For all products, for which the return period has expired during the lockdown and which fulfill our return criteria, we are prolonging the return period until the 11th of July.

My trial period of my new mattress has expired during the lockdown. Can I still exchange it for a new one after the re-opening of the IKEA stores?

Yes, of course. For all mattresses, for which the exchange period has expired during the lockdown and which fulfill the exchange criteria, we are prolonging the exchange period until the 11th of June. That means, you can exchange your mattress if it was bought after the 17.12.2019 (delivery or purchase date).

The warranty of one of my products expired during the lockdown and therefore I couldn’t claim my case with IKEA. Can I still claim the warranty after the re-opening?

Yes, of course. All warranty periods, which would have expired during the lockdown and couldn’t be registered correctly with IKEA, will be prolonged until the 11th of July.

    Vouchers and activities

What will happen to vouchers that are expiring?

Don’t worry. We will find a solution for all valid vouchers.

    • IKEA digital voucher from a 250/50 activity

If you have an IKEA voucher (digital voucher) from a 250/50 activity that is due to expire on 5 April 2020: your IKEA voucher has been automatically extended to 30 June 2020.

If your IKEA voucher (digital voucher) from a 250/50 activity is due to expire on a different date but still during the period in which IKEA stores will remain closed, you have two options:
You can either redeem it online at any time or you can get in touch with us. We will then issue you a new voucher that is valid until the end of June 2020.

    • IKEA FAMILY vouchers

In the IKEA Family App, the validity of all vouchers that would have expired between 16 March and 26 April was automatically extended until 31.5.2020.

    Information on current activities
Until 10 May 2020, we will be offering express deliveries within 72 hours at the same price as standard deliveries. This means a saving of CHF 20 per delivery (not valid for package deliveries and not valid for sofa combinations where the delivery is already included. For more information on express deliveries see the section “Deliveries and collections”).
