Jewel in dinetteDaveNice solid chairs. Plenty of flex movement. We decided to purchase Ikea's OMTÄNKSAM chr pad 40x40 ORRSTA light grey CA to provide an extremely comfortable option.
Be aware that the 4 bolts that attach chair to the the frame are different. The two for the front and the two for the back have a number on them to identify them.5
Love it!Sherri I.Love it!5
DisappointingSteph12345I bought this chair about a year ago and for a while it looked great and was pretty comfortable. However, the corner of the seat suddenly cracked and now it's unusable. It wasn't even heavily used or anything so it's pretty disappointing, especially considering its price.2
Nice chair, but doesn"t last long.updogBought this chair a year and a half ago. It just cracked straight down the centre, making it impossible to sit in. For 99$, I'd expect it to last a bit longer. I used it as my desk chair but treated it well (no leaning on the chair, no standing on it etc.)2
Poor Quality, DO not recommend, should be RecalledPinkibearThese chairs looks great, even better looking than the ghost chairs in my opinion. However, quality is just horrible. I got a total of 10 of these chairs back in 2017. 1 went to the garbage due to cracking, and recently, 2 more also cracked right in the middle, on the side and on the seats around the round chrome hardware. I agreed with another poster, most ikea products last a decent time and are good quality considered the price paid, but these chairs are an EXCEPTION! They are pricey and worst quality ever, you would think $100+ per chair from Ikea would provide you if not better, but same quality. No! You’re wrong! Obviously, there’s a QA issue with these chairs since it seems like everyone is having the same issue! I feel Ikea need to address this issue by replacing these cracked chairs and part of the recall list, they are not safe and you never know when someone can get hurt while sitting in these chairs. Also, these chairs are very prone to scratches. Customer Service at Ikea: How can I get my 2 cracked chairs replaced? I don’t have the receipt anymore since is from 2017 (I’m pretty sure most of us don’t have the receipts anymore after a few months), All these chairs all stamped with Ikea on them and only Ikea sells them so they are from Ikea obviously. I bought 10 chairs and now ending with 7 since 3 cracked.1
Poor qualityDisappointedcustomer2468I have purchased 4 of these chairs over the past year and love how they look. However, 3 of the 4 have cracked in the middle of the seat! Thankfully noone was hurt , but super disappointed.1
Chair Cracked in the middleHD1234I purchased this chair about 2 years ago and not the chair has a crack in the middle. Do not recommend this chair.1
Cracked in the middle of the plastic seat shellSky023I bought 4 of these chairs a little less than 2 years ago for my dining room. I like their looks and used them as regular dining chairs on daily basis. Yet today when I sit on one of them, the plastic seat shell cracked right in the middle. Luckily I wasn't hurt and the chair didn't split into 2 halves. Yet it was a such a bad experience as I am worrying one day some may actually split or snap and hurt people. It has only been in use for 2 years so I am surprised this would happen...It seems like to me the PC seat shell has either design or manufacturing flaws.1
DangerousAmos123All was fine until it has cracked broken during the normal use. The brackage line has uneven course and has very sharp margins. Now the item cannot be used as it is dangerous and can damage the skin or create a lesion.1
Comfortable and chicTuakI am so happy to have it. It's both comfortable and chic.5
Really nice chair!ChristyflareAssembly was a little difficult, as getting the screws lined up properly was an issue, but the chair itself is very comfortable. The bounce that the back gives makes for good back support and is very relaxing.5
DisappointedChair LadyTwo out of the 4 chairs I bought several years ago developed cracks on year one. I tried sending several communications about repairs or exchange options to no avail. We still have them just to keep the overall aesthetic of our dining area (because I love the look and design) but no one actually uses them for fear of being hurt. Sad thing is, we do not have the receipt anymore and not sure about alternate options.2
Finally ending the saga of these chairs - beware!BrokenbumBought my first round of these chairs years ago and had them shipped from out of province as we didn’t have an IKEA locally at the time. I LOVED them. They look amazing - even now I’m so disappointed because aesthetically they are fantastic. Within the first 4 months we had our first crack. No big deal, replaced the chair. A few months later, another. Again, replaced it. Over the years I can’t tell you how many of these chairs I’ve had to buy - but I kept replacing them because they are beautiful. This past weekend marked the end of a beautiful acrylic era when it cracked under the bum of a 60lb little girl. How does any chair crack under 60lbs. Brutal. I just wanted to review to hopefully save someone the (beautiful) hassle and now see that lots of people have had the same issue. I really hope there is a solution, but I guess what do we expect out of an acrylic chair?1
Split in TwoCathyinCalgaryMy average weight daughter had this for a few years....sat on it gently one day and it spilt it down the middle of the seat. IKEA customer service said it was off warranty and couldn’t help. Waste of $100.1
sturdy and breakableessedaria73i bought 4 of this chairs 5 years ago, it's been a while that one of them cracked from the middle, every time i have guests i remember i need to do something about this chair, it's so disappointing,1
Good Chair Until It CrackedJiroTXWe purchased four TOBIAS chairs for our dining 6 years ago. Today, one of the chairs made a big noise and got cracked in the middle while I was enjoying my dinner. It sounds like other people are having the same issues with this model. The chair lasted 6 years, but I was expecting longer than this. I'm 5'9/150lb.3
Cracked!Bum Crack ChairNice looking chairs, but after only a few months one cracked in the middle and then the other not long after. From seeing similar reviews now I gather it's a problem for all of them. Stick with wood.1
cracks...JL253I purchased it 4 years ago and i have to say it is a stunning piece. It compliments the minimalistic look of my living room.... BUT recently it cracked open while i was just sitting down and drinking coffee. It was extremely frightening with the loud noise and seeing the crack... luckily it didnt create any sharp edge but still who would have thought the chair would have been so fragile. An unfortunate event with this beautiful chair, now i dont know what to do with it anymore. Obviously too scared to sit on it again also i can't bare the sight of it having a big crack.3
Great chairsSilvia133These chairs are fantastic. Easy to clean and look great. Love that they come with floor protectors.5
