Great curtainsNatalieThis is our third pair we’ve bought over the past 16 years, because we love them so much. A linen look , off white, affordable. They are well made, look pretty and simple to go with most decors. They hang nicely, let the light come through and block the outside from seeing in when closed. They also wash well and any wrinkles go away once hung for a short while. (We’ve never ironed them) Only reason we’ve bought three sets over the years, was damage from use. Once was pet damage on bottom and the other was some stains from coffee and kid spills that we couldn’t get out. Old ones have been reused in smaller windows as the damage can be cut off and re-hemmed (we use no sew hemming tape).5
Do not wash ever!! They will significantly shrink and to uneven lengths!!MaBought these in 2020. Hung them and had no issues. Washed them for the first time last week. The IKEA site says machine wash hot, tumble dry medium, 4% shrinkage. Washed them on cool and hung them to dry for 24 hours, then tumbled dry on low heat. After washing one shrunk to 90" long (8% shrink), second shrunk to 84" (14% shrink). I now have two shrunk curtains, two different lengths. I took them back to the store and was denied an exchange despite acknowledging the defect. I understand the return policy, but these are curtains, I hung them and never touched them again for 3.5 years and when I did finally wash them following IKEA's instructions they were ruined. Very disappointed with the lack of support despite acknowledging the defect. Lesson learned I guess, do not wash these curtains and read the other negative reviews on here... multiple reports from other customers that after washing these they significantly shrunk and to different lengths.1
These drapes are a perfectWanThese drapes are a perfect weight. Not too sheer and not too heavy. They hang beautifully and look quite rich.5
I’m so happy with myBeverleeI’m so happy with my new Ritvah curtains and Vidga track. It was simple to install, and opening and closing the curtains on the track is smooth and easy.5
These feel nice and lookMichaelThese feel nice and look quite attractive. They do a good job of blocking/diffusing sunlight without being too heavy. One of Ikea's few (only?) curtain options that aren't floor-length - would be great if more existed.4
Linen look curtainTeresaI purchased these for my living room with the intention of hemming them. I did have them but found it a little difficult because the curtains are not cut on the grain. The crosswise grain is a little off but I did the best I could and they turned out pretty good.4
Great saleAntoinetteGreat sale5
Ritva drapesVeraThe loops cause the drapes to get stuck on the curtain rod. I don't understand why they didn't use the same fabric to make the loops.3

Our take on cotton

We use cotton in many of our products, from sofas and cushions to bed linen and mattresses. It is a soft, durable and renewable fibre that breathes and is good at absorbing moisture. All these great qualities make cotton one of our most important materials, but it isn’t without its challenges, much having to do with conventional farming methods that negatively impact the environment and poor working conditions for farmers. With our size and production volumes, we want to drive change in the cotton industry.

Working together to drive change

Each year, IKEA uses around 0.5 percent of all cotton grown around the world. This may not seem like a lot, but the number is big enough to drive change in the industry. For many years, we have been working with partners and stakeholders globally to transform conventional large-scale cotton farming and set social and environmental standards for cotton production. As an example, we helped set up the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) who runs the world’s largest cotton sustainability programme. BCI exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the sector’s future. Today, more than 110,000 farmers have adopted more sustainable farming practices within IKEA projects.

Ensuring compliance throughout the value chain

All IKEA products are produced in accordance with the IKEA IWAY Standard, our Supplier Code of Conduct. It sets out the minimum environmental and social standards expected from our suppliers, including compliance with local laws. We do not accept any form of forced labour, child labour or treatments in breach of our supply chain requirements. Our cotton teams across the globe ensure that all cotton used in IKEA products meets the demands of compliance in our supply chain. By having teams on the ground in areas where it has previously been challenging to work responsibly, we can challenge the traditional ways of working and improve the industry. If we discover that we are acting in places where we cannot ensure our requirements are being met, we follow-up on the ground and drive change.

Material

What is cotton?

Cotton is one of the world's most appreciated and used natural fibres. Textiles in cotton are soft, hardwearing and can be washed at high temperatures. They are also good at breathing and absorbing moisture – making them pleasant to wear close to the body. Today at IKEA we use more and more recycled cotton and strive to make sure that all the new cotton we use has been grown and produced with less and less amounts of pesticides, fertilizers and water.

Function solution

Sew without needle or thread

With SY iron-on tape everyone can "sew" curtains. All you need to do is cut your fabric to size, fold the hem, lay the strip in place and iron it with a warm iron.
