Product details

Storage in the headboard saves space and makes it easier to access boxes or drawers under the bed; and it’s easier to vacuum too.

The soft felt pad absorbs sound, protects from scratches and keeps small items in place.

You can choose where to position the boxes and shelves since they easily slot into the headboard’s grooves.

You can hide cables for lamps and chargers by feeding them through the holes at the back of the shelf.

You decide the height of the headboard since it needs to be mounted to the wall.

NORDLI headboard is assembled and mounted on the wall in just a few steps.

Easy to bring home since the headboard is divided into two pieces.

Each headboard includes 2 shelves (12x10⅝x4") and 2 boxes (9½x4x4").

To be mounted to the wall.

Different wall materials require different types of fasteners. Use fasteners suitable for the walls in your home.

Nice but very heavy.AngelaIt’s a complement for a bed and looks very nice but it’s very heavy and also for installation can be hard because the wall probably is in drywall4
Loved itcolleenEasy to put together5
Love having storage on theChantelleLove having storage on the wall opposed to having a side table that you would have to move to get into the drawers on the side of the bed. Looks great and easy to assemble. However it did not come with the screws to mount to the wall, which is odd as the whole design is to be mounted to the wall not the bed frame.5
HeadboardPENNYStylish headboard that doesn’t take up any extra floor space. Good value in that the cubbies and shelves are included.5
Well-built headboard.WilliamWell-built headboard.3

No extra accessories?Jenifer B.Im very veeery surprised Ikea doesn't offer extra boxes for you to buy, since they seem very small. This is a bit frustrating since that would be so Ikea..3
Ordered a king size byTashaOrdered a king size by accident (bed is a queen) but the extra space on the side was well worth the mistake!5

Is the head board safe?Sony_2202The bed overall is pretty good, it looks great but we’re scared that it’s not secured enough to stay. The headboard wasn’t provided with any screws or anything to hang on!3
KING HEADBOARD - Wrong Dimensions in the handbook!Furniture NoviceI bought Nordli king Size Bed and headboard (Article# 392.414.28) recently. The headboard handbook asks us to make holes in the wall 30cm away from center each way. I followed the instructions and thereafter, tried to hang the headboard and realised that the rest on headboard and support on wall don’t align completely. Then, I measured the distance between rest and Center on headboard which was actually 21.5cm. I had to remove the support from wall and re-position them at a distance of 21.5cm from Center. Incorrect measurements on the handbook has left lot of holes on my wall which I am not happy about. In addition, the holes on the support of headboard don’t align with studs, so placing this heavy headboard was a real challenge; I am not sure why doesn’t it follow stud standards.3
Fantastic product!Kev and LeeEasy to put together and install! Very sturdy and looks great5
Minimalist and simpleVancouver CanadaIt makes my room look so modern. Love it. A bit of work to put it together and hang against wall, but definitely worth it.5
Looks great and achieved the feel we wantedDave and DorisSo happy with it. It compliments our room perfectly5
Missing screws to secure to the wallGigiValI recently bought this headboard to go with the matching bed storage and was excited to put it all together. Just as we finished building it and about to secure it to the wall we noticed that the screws are missing. I’m not sure how you can sell a piece without all the necessary tools. Very unhappy with this, started off well but now disappointed2
Hangs on the wallchlwongWe bought the headboard separately a couple months apart and it was meant to be an easy few steps to set up - but upon opening the boxes I found it that it does not come with any screws or anchors for the walls. Considering how heavy this thing is, it would be a lot better if the screw holes could line up with the studs instead of relying on anchors. The finish scratches REALLY easily, luckily we put mats down but even with mats it has a couple nicks here and there (not that noticeable). I really doubt you'll be able to install this by yourself, but i'm sure there are ways. It'll save you a lot of effort if you find someone to help you like I did. I feel there are many better ways for this to be designed better.2
Pretty, but scratches easilyJez792This headboard is good looking and very versatile. I paired it with the Hemnes storage bed. While it is attractive, it scratches very easily. This happens a lot, especially when moving the little storage shelves for cleaning.3
HeadboardAll the Allias takenFinally got the wall behind painted a darker colour so this white headboard shows off great5
Now mounting screwsS arcEasy enough to put together but we have this monstrosity of a headboard sitting in our living room to find our it comes with the washers to mount it but no screws or plugs.3

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in a responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill waste – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a valuable resource instead of being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look. The day your sofa or bed needs replacing, the material in the particleboard can be recycled into something entirely new.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

"When I designed the NORDLI bedroom series I was inspired by modern Scandinavian design and smart functions. It all started with just a bed and bedside table, then grew into a complete series. Each piece works great alone or combined with others. They all have their own special features with focus on functionality and quality. The modular chests come in different shapes and sizes that you can combine freely to suit your space. Some pieces are also great in other rooms too, like the living room, hall – even in a small business."
