It is estimated that every five seconds, one BILLY bookcase is sold somewhere in the world. Pretty impressive considering we launched BILLY in 1979. It’s the booklovers choice that never goes out of style.

Ratings and reviews

Looks Great!RosemarieThis is a beautiful product. The hinges are a little finicky and the handle. But once done; it looks incredible.5
Would have been 5 stars if not for one thing...kinas94The design is beautiful and suits my 10 billy bookcases flawlessly. HOWEVER, ikea saw fit to put a hideous morliden sticker on every. single. door. They are the CHEAPEST paper stickers, and they are impossible to remove cleanly. I have timed the process, and over half of the entire assembly time is spent trying to vigorously remove these horribly unsightly stickers, and that is with using all the recommended means of removing adhesive. Very bad move Ikea... My arms hurt and my fingers are sore and my nails are peeling from this unnecessary nonsense. Just use a static sticker next time...2
Royal painMr UI have assembled lots of IKEA furniture so I know how, and this door is extremely frustrating! Bad design. Ended up returning it to get a different style.1
Glass door forBilly BookcaseStumanPerfect match for the Billy Book Case, easy to assemble.5
Design has been changed from older stylesJJHRI bought 2 of these doors to put on our 'older' Billy bookcases. Had previously bought some back when I purchased out bookcases. Unpacked one of them and was testing out where to put the hinges only to discover that the hinges now go in places where the 'older' Billy bookcases don't have holes. I was not about to start drilling new wholes in my perfectly good bookcases so had to return the doors. So disappointed that IKEA would change something like this. The doors would be great if purchasing with new bookcases.3
Not a matchLaouiseThe IKEA representative recommended this door. However, it did not match the rest of my billy bookcases which I use as hutches. I wish IKEA would make a glass with birch door for the single half cabinet instead of a metal frame and smoke glass.1

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
