Imagine what looks like tiny wood splinter but made of seagrass. I purchased this with the intention of using it to hold my baby's stuffed animals in the nursery, but after filling the basket with some stuffed toys and then removing the toys to inspect, I noticed tons of these little fiber which makes me uncomfortable using it for my baby.2

Material

What is seagrass?

Sedge (or seagrass) grows naturally in South-East Asian coastal areas. For our products, we mainly use cultivated sedge from field areas that have previously been flooded by the sea, making them unsuitable for rice cultivation. But sedge grows well in salty soils and even helps cleanse them. After harvest, the plant is left to dry in the sun making it a hardwearing fibre ideal for weaving or braiding baskets and mats with beautiful colour variations.
