Ratings and reviews

I miss the old corner deskSteven A.The older versions were straight, the front of the desk is angled slightly for some reason. I don't know why they didn't use nice 90 degree edges like the older version. I have my large mouse pad hanging over the edge just to give a sense of flat angle. Please, with the next version, go back to straight 90 degree angles for the main parts of the desk, the rounded corners are fine, i just want a nice square desk.4

Nice table top for a denNANCYThis table works well as a desk or craft table. Height can be adjusted.5
Amazing!LeonardoGreat finish, quality and design. Perfect for my office and have lots of room.5
Works well for the spaceJODYWorks well for the space I needed and I love the style5
Good office desk with weak legsI'm using this desk for around 3 years already as a home office desk. It's large enough to comfortably work with a laptop and 2 additional 27" monitors. The only problem - weak legs. They simply can't hold the weight good enough. I wish it has at least tree legs - one on the narrow side and two on the wide side, or more sturdy way to fix inner leg in an outer leg rather then one small bolt. Every time I touch the table everything on the table is shaking. Two monitors, a laptop and a lamp, everything is shaking. That's really annoying. Everything else is ok.3
Work DeskRogerSturdy desk for den or office.5
Great desk overallLean F.I've had this desk for about 6-7 years now and I really like it. There are several pros and cons to this desk. Pros: Very large. Sturdy on carpet or hardwood. Adjustable wheels at the bottom if your room is on a slight slant or the floor is not perfectly flat. Corner can leave space for a printer or on desk organizer. The mesh under the desk is nice to hold the original allen key and wires for electronics. Cons: L-shape can make it very difficult to transport alongside other furniture in anything other than a large van, so best if you don't move too often (I moved 5 times with it). Quite heavy, so best to break down into components when moving. You only need something like a flat screwdriver and the allen key. It lacks built in storage. This would be ideal for an office where you have alternative file storage and you wont be moving it too often. If you're a student, get a regular rectangle desk.4
Love this deskMELSturdy, space efficient, stylish5
Great desk size and shape but would like regular leg optionandreaThe only thing about the shape is that with the legs in from the outer edges of the desk it gets very crowded to put file cabinet under it. In our perfect world it didn’t have to have adjustable height legs and we would have replaced the right leg with a drawer unit.4
Perfect table for office, very sturdy.Wife1234Bought this for husband’s office. Easily fits 4 screens and plenty of workspace. Very happy with this purchase.5
Nice white deskTariq rashStrong enough to hold my sit and stand desk on top. This desk is based on two legs but kind of shaky whenever I type on keyboard4
Good Value, Not SturdywobblegateThe desk is large for the price, and is quite easy to assemble, but beware that the desk is not sturdy. Specifically, it wobbles and vibrates more than any desk I've ever used, which will lead to problems with certain computer monitors. Its rigidity might be sufficient for typing with a laptop, but I think any desktop use can expect problems. Note: this seems to be a design flaw, as all fasteners were attached as per the instructions.3
Not as sturdyOg mamaI bout this desk a few days ago. I love the look of the desk. I love the fact it was easy to put together. Seemed like a perfect solution although the desk is quite shaky. We made sure all screws were tightened and they were. My cat who like to help with any and all work needed to be done loves to jump on the desk. As soon as she is on the desk it wobbles which is unnerving I will have to see about somehow retrofitting this desk to make it sturdy so that my computer screen won’t fall over.3

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in a responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
