Hard to buildAngelaI am very experienced with building Ikea furniture but the plastic clips to attach the drawer fronts to the drawer were a nightmare. Really hard to "slide forward" and the "push in the clip". It took ages and my thumbs hurt from pressing so hard. The job took way longer than it should have done. Sorry Ikea, I feel let down on this one.

Drawer fronts as described.EileenI originally took home the wrong ones after not being able to get the woodgrain drawer fronts and the help desk gave me a docket for kitchen drawer fronts which I had to pick up from the warehouse. I returned the wrong ones by express post overnight. The next day IKEA gave me the refund for the difference but they did not post out the Fonnes drawer fronts for another 10 days. Now finally it is all put together and looks great. It is really nifty how the drawer fronts attach. The Platsa system is smart and sturdy. The Hjalpa drawers are metal and are a bit tricky to put together. You have to really look hard at the instructions. Overall I am happy with the finished piece of furniture.

Fitted perfectly to the drawer base purchased at IkeaSueStandard white draw front. Easy to install BUT the inside locking catches need a strong hand to get them to engage. I use a flat head screwdriver and hammer to knock them into place. It worked fine and did not damage the front.

Story
The storage that changes with you
Our living space is often limited, and it can be a challenge to find a place for everything. With PLATSA storage system, we wanted to create a simple, changeable storage solution that you can rebuild and add to, build vertically or horizontally, to the side or in between. On top of everything else, the price should be low but the quality should be high. The solution: the right quality in the right place.
"All you need is your hands," says product developer Freddy Kramer while clicking together one PLATSA frame after another. Yes, clicking. The secret is a type of plug called a wedge dowel. Freddy goes on to explain why assembling or taking frames apart easily is an important detail. "People's lives are changing more and more today ─ we move more often, live in smaller spaces and maybe share a home with others at times. That's why our needs don't look the same throughout life."

For PLATSA to be truly long-lasting, quality was just as important as flexibility and ease of assembling. But improving quality without adding to the price is not easy. "Right quality in the right place," Freddy says, and opens a cabinet door. "Here on the outside of the door, which you see and touch every day, we've used a matt foil with fine texture, while the inside, which is not as exposed, is coated with a simpler base foil." The PLATSA project took a lot of time and commitment. But it also gave results. "Those empty white boxes for the frames might not look like much at first glance, but they’re actually white boxes filled with love,” Freddy says, smiling.
Material
What is particleboard?
Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
