Designer Synnöve Mork”I found inspiration for RAVNSÖ rug at the Nordic Museum in Stockholm. It’s full of folkloristic textiles with colourful patterns and stripes. So I got the idea of creating a traditional rug with a modern twist. I started out by designing the stripes – thick, thin and everything in between, to find the right proportions. The warm colours match easily with other items at home and give a cosy, homey feel.”
People and communities
Weaving a better future for handmade rugs and the people who make themRug weaving in India has a rich history, and nurturing this unique craftsmanship starts with the skilled men and women who make IKEA rugs. Together with our suppliers, we have consolidated weaving into centres with good working conditions, fair wages, stable work and care for the environment. It’s a more sustainable way of producing handmade rugs — one that ensures the well-being of the weavers and their communities, the resources we use and our business.
