THE WORLD’S GETTING GREENER – BE PART OF IT
We all have the power to make a difference to our environment. Charlie Browne, IKEA UK environment manager and a passionate environmentalist, shows you small changes we can all make to save money and the planet. Pass them on to a friend!
Five summer eco tips
It’s sunny outside – hopefully! If you have the space, line dry your clothes. Tumble dryers create 310kg of CO2 a year, line drying creates none.
Solar-cell technology means the sun’s rays can help brighten up the night too. Check out the IKEA SOLIG range of outdoor lamps for lighting up your outside space. • SOLIG range

I don’t mean stay at home, but discover hidden gems closer to where you live. A holiday without plane travel or big hotels will reduce your carbon footprint.
From August, IKEA will stop selling incandescent light bulbs – before it’s legally required in most countries. Make the swtich to compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs).
My final tip is inspired by reader Stuart Mayes in the UK. Use a bike for every trip you can – including your next visit to IKEA!
