IKEA's goal is to help create a better everyday life for the many people. Part of this commitment involves being a socially responsible company.
Reducing energy consumption and the dangers of hazardous emissions harming the atmospher. IKEA however, is taking action!
Selling alternative compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs over less energy effcient lighting, such as incandescent bulbs, is one of the major strategies IKEA is implementing.
CFL bulbs last on average 10 times longer than a standard incandescent bulb and saves 80% more energy. So, although CFL bulbs are more expensive than incandescent bulbs, the investment pays off in the long run because there is alot more energy saved. Along with the lower energy costs CFL bulbs emit fewer greenhouse gases into the environment. They also stay much cooler, which makes them safer for children.
Recycling our CFL bulbs
IKEA is one of the only retailers partnering with local recycling companies to properly recycle the mercury content from CFL bulbs and all other electrical equipment to avoid any environmental contamination. These bulbs require special disposal, and we'll do that for you free of charge.
