IKEA West Sacramento Charity and Environmental Efforts

IKEA and American Forests
Plant a tree. Clean the air. Cool the globe.
IKEA West Sacramento is partnering with American Forests to help reduce CO2 pollution. As a customer, you can "plant trees" by adding $1 per tree to your total purchase in the cash lanes. Healthy forests reduce CO2 pollution. Buy one tree or buy twenty! IKEA will match your donation for the first 100,000 trees planted. See a cashier for more details.
IKEA and UNICEF
Help Shed Light on Education
Need to buy a reading lamp and want to help a child in need while you're at it? Then check out our SUNNAN lamps! Beginning June 1, 2009, for every SUNNAN solar cell powered lamp you buy, we'll donate one to UNICEF. These environmentally friendly lamps will go to children in developing countries, so they can read, write and study after sunset, even if their homes have no electricity.

In addition to doing something great for kids- you'll be helping the environment and your pocket book. These lamps come with two rechargeable AA 1.2V batteries for solar cell driven products, so all you have to do it give it sun. No plug in required. No cost on your electric bill. No CO2 emissions.

Help us and UNICEF to make children's lives a little brighter.

IKEA and the Environment
IKEA West Sacramento's Environmental Efforts
Looking for a way to reduce your energy bills as well as your carbon footprint? Then head to IKEA West Sacramento and pick up some of our CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lighting) bulbs! IKEA West Sacramento carries a variety of energy saving lightbulbs which will help reduce your impact on the environment and the impact on your wallet. We have the best prices around on energy saving bulbs.

Energy saving light bulbs use 80% less energy than standard bulbs in addition to lasting ten times longer than regular bulbs. That means less time changing lightbulbs and less time worrying about your energy bills which means more time for you. Check out our lighting department today for energy saving bulbs for your entire home, indoor and outdoor.

And don’t forget, when it’s time to replace your lightbulb, don’t throw them in the trash! Bring them back to IKEA, and we’ll gladly recycle them for you for free at our Recycling Station by Returns and Exchanges. We also recycle batteries and plastic bags free of charge.

IKEA has a great alternative to "throw-away" plastic bags- the IKEA Blue Bag! We've reduced the price on this large, reusable and durable bag to .59 cents. One of these bags can replace hundreds of "throw-away" plastic bags and has lots of great uses! Not only can you bring it with you on your next visit to IKEA, but you can use around the house for laundry or gardening or around town for the farmer's market and other stores.

If you chose a regular plastic bag to carry your purchases home, the five cents you pay will be donated to American Forests, the nation's oldest non-profit conservation organization, to plant trees and offset CO2 emissions throughout the United States.
