1 LEDARE bulb = $1 to help refugees live brighter, safer lives
Brighter Lives for Refugees
For every LEDARE LED light bulb sold from February 1 to March 28, 2015, the IKEA Foundation will donate $1* to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

Today, there are nearly 11.7 million refugees around the world – about half of which are children. They find safety and shelter at UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) camps. But the lack of light in many camps can have a devastating effect on their safety, education prospects and income.

The funds will help improve access to lighting, renewable energy and primary education in refugee camps in Ethiopia, Sudan, Chad, Bangladesh and Jordan – improving those communities for the children and families who live there.

We invite our customers to donate LED bulbs locally! Purchase an LED bulb, and drop it in our donation bin after the checkout lanes. Collected bulbs will benefit Bridging, Inc., a local non-profit providing quality furniture and household goods to those transitioning out of homelessness and poverty.

Solar panel installation
As part of our commitment to sustainability, IKEA has installed a solar energy system atop this store. The 128,000-square-foot array consists of a 1,014-kW system, built with approximately 4,376 panels.

The IKEA Twin Cities solar program will produce approximately 1,161,328 kWh of clean electricity annually! That is equivalent of reducing 801 tons of carbon dioxide, eliminating the emissions of 157 cars or powering 100 homes yearly.
