Solar Energy System Installation Complete at
IKEA Tempe
As part of our constant evaluation of sustainable initiatives within IKEA U.S., IKEA Tempe officially plugged-in their solar energy system installed on October 20th. The 72,000-square-foot array consists of two 300-kWh systems, each built with approximately 1,300 panels (for a total 2,600). IKEA Tempe’s solar program will produce approximately one million kWh of electricity annually for the store, offsetting 760 tons of carbon and equivalent to powering 84 homes or removing nearly 133 cars off the road. Visit our solar energy kiosk at the store's Exit doors for more information.

Free Arts of Arizona Art Exhibit at IKEA Tempe
Be sure to visit our partner charity, Free Arts of Arizona's art exhibit in our Restaurant titled, "The Giving Tree.” Free Arts of Arizona, an 18-year-old non-profit that builds self-esteem and sparks the creative spirit in at-risk youth in more than 100 group homes and shelters across the Valley.

The “Giving Tree” Exhibit, created specifically for IKEA Tempe, features artwork by teenage participants in Free Arts Professional Artist Series program. This exhibit is based on the book by Shel Silverstein, a touching story of what it means to give and receive. The teens involved in this exhibit share their thoughts and talents with the community about who they are (physical and personality traits), the things they need (from others and the world) and what they give to the world (special skills, talents, gifts) in order to make it a better place!
