IKEA Sunrise Social & Environmental Efforts

The Never Ending Job...
We have decided to help create a world where we take better care of the environment, the earth's resources, and each other. We know that sometimes we are part of the problem. So, we are working hard to become a part of the solution. We are weighing the pros and cons, continually examining and changing things. All these steps, in lots and lots of areas, add up to something big...and noticeable.

The job has already started,
and it is a never-ending one.
IKEA and American Forests
Plant A Tree.
Clean The Air.
Cool The Globe.
IKEA Sunrise is partnering with American Forests to help reduce CO2 pollution and restore forests. As a customer, you can plant trees by adding $1 per tree to your total purchase at the check-outs. Healthy forests reduce CO2 pollution. IKEA will match your donation for the first 100,000 trees planted! Buy one tree or buy 20!

Spotlight On Children
Help bring a little light in the dark for those in need.

Starting June 1, 2009- for each SUNNAN solar cell powered lamp you buy, we'll donate one to UNICEF. These environmentally friendly lamps will go to children in developing countries, so they can read, write and study after sunset, even if their homes have no electricity.

In addition to doing something great for kids- you'll be helping the environment and your pocket book. These lamps come with two rechargeable AA 1.2V batteries for solar cell driven products, so all you have to do it give it sun. No plug in required. No cost on your electric bill. No CO2 emissions. Now that is what you call a BRIGHT idea!

BAG THE PLASTIC BAG

IKEA has all kinds of options to express your eco-consciousness with style and keep more green in your wallet. Bags come in all different sizes- from the BRATTBY bag for just 49¢ to the huge and zippered FIXA bag for only $2.99! The best value is an IKEA icon, the 59¢ Big Blue Bag! And DIMPA is a great option for just $1.99- in four color styles, it is very fashionable and makes a great gift bag!

Creating a Better Everyday!

The IKEA global vision is to “create a better everyday life for the many.” To this end, we have a long-standing partnerships with UNICEF, Save the Children and American Forest, to impact the health, safety, education and well-being of children in need, as well as minimizing our impact to the environment.

At IKEA Sunrise we support Hispanic Unity of Florida, a private human services agency empowering Hispanics and other members of the community to become self-sufficient, and Junior Achievement.

IKEA takes great pride in partnerships like these that help support neighbors in the local community where our co-workers and customers live and work. If you are an established non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status with a local reach, and would like to be considered on our Community Relations Program, download the IKEA Sunrise Community Support Guidelines and complete accordingly. Submissions received after May 31, 2009 will be considered for the 1st quarter of 2010.

Please note that due to the high number of donation requests we receive, we may not respond to all submissions. Thank you for your understanding.
