There are so many small ways you can reduce your carbon footprint! Ikea wants to show you how easy it is.
USE COMPACT FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS (CFL)
Head to the lighting department at IKEA Pittsburgh and pick up some of our CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lighting) bulbs. These bulbs use 80% less energy and last 10 times longer than regular bulbs- SAVE MONEY and the ENVIRONMENT.
RECYCLE YOUR CFL BULBS.
When it's time to replace your light bulb, bring your old ones in to IKEA Pittsburgh Recycling Center located on the first floor in the Returns & Exchange area. We recycle CFL light bulbs, even if you didn't buy them here, we will make sure they are recycled responsibly! It’s a FREE service
REDUCE YOUR USE OF PLASTIC BAGS, CHOOSE REUSABLE BAGS
Talk about a great big GREEN STEP You helped IKEA use 92% fewer throw away plastic bags last year. Across the US that is 64 million bags that did not end up in trees, landfills or oceans. We are overwhelmed by our community’s response to this effort. IKEA recommends picking up our reusable 'BIG BLUE BAG' to take home your purchase. IKEA Big Blue Bags are reusable and are a great value at 59¢! These all purpose, sturdy totes can be used when you visit IKEA or to move, to haul your laundry, your groceries, anytime you need an extra hand.
LIVE GREEN, PLANT SOMETHING GREEN
Did you know that IKEA sells indoor and outdoor plants? Planting something green not only adds beauty to your environment, it can also remove toxins from your environment.
