The Votes Are In!
Congratulations to the 40 ‘Life Improvement Challenge’ winners… and thanks to our IKEA US customers and co-workers for their overwhelming support.

This is the 4th year of the IKEA Life Improvement Challenge; a program in which IKEA US customers & co-workers vote on a charity who will win a complete makeover including IKEA products & design expertise. Additionally, runner ups will win gift cards.

After weeks of tremendous voting support, the 40 charities have been selected. These charities help make a difference in each of their communities, and IKEA is pleased to be a part of making them warm, welcoming and functionally attractive.

Thank you for your support and know that these charities do as well.

IKEA Dallas now has a solar energy system!
As part of our commitment to sustainability, IKEA has installed a solar energy system atop this store. The 114,000-square-foot array consists of a 912-kW system, built with approximately 3,780 panels.

The IKEA Frisco solar program will produce approximately 1,336,300 kWh of clean electricity annually - the equivalent of reducing 1,016 tons of carbon dioxide, eliminating the emissions of 181 cars or powering 115 homes yearly.

Metrocrest Community Services Remodel Complete!
IKEA Dallas donated $10,000* to Metrocrest Community Services in IKEA products, services and in-kind donations as a part of the IKEA Life Improvement Co-worker Challenge, where coworkers and consumers voted for winning projects in their local communities.

Metrocrest Community Services in Carrollton, TX was awarded $10,000* in IKEA products, services and donations from IKEA Dallas to fully remodel their Day Habilitation and Vocational Services facilities, as part of the national IKEA Life Improvement Co-worker Challenge. Six rooms in the charity’s facility were remodeled during this project.

This challenge is part of the third year of IKEA’s “Life Improvement Project”, which offers consumers inspiration and suggestions to help them make a positive impact on their homes and lives within. Through this year-long initiative, IKEA is encouraging people to share projects of what they do to improve their lives at home, and to learn from the life improvement tips of others, from saving time through better organization to reducing bills by changing to energy-efficient light bulbs.

Metrocrest Community Services is a private, non-profit company that provides Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (IDD) employment and habilitation services. On a daily basis, this agency services over 100 people and has been doing so for over 20 years. “To receive the incredible makeover from the IKEA Life Improvement Project was a dream come true for us. This is an improvement we could have never done ourselves and our consumers and families are so grateful for the gift. Many, many thanks to Valerie Wiley from IKEA for working with my Executive Director, Tracey Ball, in getting this project put together. Thank you to all who voted for MCS! We are thrilled and humbled by beauty of our agency” said Stacey Rogers, Metrocrest Chief Operating Officer.
