Light up your home and the lives of children!
For each SUNNAN solar cell powered lamp you buy, we'll donate one to UNICEF. These environmentally-friendly lamps will go to children in developing countries, so they can read, write and study after sunset, even if their homes have no electricity. In addition to doing something great for kids- you'll be helping the environment and your wallet. These lamps come with two rechargeable AA 1.2V batteries for solar cell driven products, so all you have to do it give it sun. No plug in required. No cost on your electric bill. No CO2 emissions. Now that is what you call a BRIGHT idea!
Low cost but not at any cost!
Our responsibility to our community and the world.
Low prices are the cornerstone of the IKEA vision and our business idea - but not at any price. At IKEA, we believe that taking responsibility for people and the environment is a prerequisite for doing good business.
IT'S EASY BEING GREEN
IKEA GOES COMPLETELY BAGLESS!
IKEA believed we would and could change our behavior and be more environmentally responsible. With the introduction of our biggest environmental initiative “bag the plastic bag” program in March 2007; IKEA set a goal of reducing its U.S. stores plastic bag consumption by 50%; from 70 million plastic bags to 35 million plastic bags.

And now a year later, we would like to thank our customers for helping us reduce our plastic bag usage by 92%. That’s 64 million less bags that will end up in trees, landfills or oceans.

This landmark program has resulted in IKEA taking a bigger stand to reduce plastic bag usage. As of October 1, 2008. IKEA will no longer offer plastic bags, and paper bags are not available in IKEA stores either . IKEA will offer our 59¢ reusable blue bag as an alternative.
