Congratulations WELLSPRING LIVING
Winner of the $10,000 IKEA Makeover - Life Improvement Challenge

IKEA Atlanta customers and fans, join us in celebrating the winning charity of our 2014 Life Improvement Challenge. WELLSPRING LIVING will receive $10,000 in IKEA furnishings, design expertise & services!

Due to their mission to confront the issue of childhood sexual abuse and exploitation through awareness, training, and treatment programs for women and girls, WELLSPRING LIVING gained a majority of your votes.

Wellspring Living serves girls who have experienced Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking (DMST) between the ages of 12 - 25. The Life Skills and Therapy Rooms will be transformed with IKEA furnishing solutions so Wellspring staff and professionals can provide therapy and job readiness training.

The IKEA team will include Brian Lee (Team Captain), Michelle Vieira (Design Expert), and other IKEA coworkers from the Atlantic Station store. A group of Wellspring Living staff and volunteers will also help build furniture, install wall cabinets, hang lighting fixtures and so much more.

Solar panel installation
As part of our commitment to sustainability, IKEA has installed a solar energy system atop this store. The 129,400 square foot array consists of a 1,034.9-kW system, built with approximately 4,312 panels. IKEA Atlanta’s solar program will produce approximately 1,416,502 kWh of clean electricity annually - the equivalent of reducing 977 tons of carbon dioxide, eliminating the emissions of 192 cars or powering 122 homes yearly.
Creating a better life for people and our communities
IKEA in the community
The IKEA vision is to "create a better everyday life for the many.”
To this end, we have long-standing collaborations on a national level with UNICEF, Save the Children and American Forests, to impact the health, safety, education and well-being of children in need, as well as minimizing our impact on the environment.

At IKEA Atlanta, just to name a few, we have collaborated with…

● Atlanta Tour De Cure / American Diabetes Association
● Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
● CHRIS Kids
● Grant Park Cooperative Preschool
● Midtown EcoFest
● The Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta
● Whitefoord Elementary School / Project Gift

IKEA takes great pride in collaborations like these that help support neighbors in the local community where our co-workers and customers live and work. If you are an established non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status with a local reach, and would like to be considered for our Community Involvement Program; download the IKEA Atlanta Guidelines For Community Involvement Application.

Please Note: Due to the high volume of community involvement requests, we only respond to requests in writing and we may not respond to all requests. We only respond to submissions on the provided application. Telephone or in-person inquiries will not be considered. Thank you for your understanding.
