Tick, tock. A new take on the grandfather clock
When designer Anne de Graaf was studying design at Artemis Styling Academy in Holland she got the idea to combine a wall clock with an old grandfather clock sticker that could be stuck on a wall. It’s an idea that turns a wall decoration into something more than just a pretty face.
Just add a clock
MORTORP is no ordinary clock. The fact is, it’s not a clock at all. It’s a large sticker that looks like an old grandfather clock. You can put MORTORP sticker on any wall in any colour, as long as it has a smooth surface. All you need to do is complement MORTORP with a wall clock you like and hey presto! You have a grandfather clock in your own personal style.
When designer Anne de Graaf was studying design at Artemis Styling Academy in Holland she got the idea to combine a wall clock with the illustration of an old grandfather clock printed on a sticker that could be stuck on a wall. It’s an idea that turns a wall decoration into something more than just a pretty face.
Anna took a chance and sent her idea to the design department at IKEA in Sweden and hoped for the best. From the design department, Anna’s letter was sent straight to the product developer for clocks who picked up the phone and called Anna. This large sticker in the form of a grandfather clock was something we just had to do!
What we liked about the idea was that now you can decorate a wall by doing something other than putting up a picture. And you can change a room in a quick and easy way, without having to paint or put up wallpaper. All you need to do is fasten MORTORP on an area of your choice and add a clock that’s no larger than 38 cm in diameter, the largest size that fits within the lines.
You can put MORTORP anywhere you have some free space on a smooth wall. In a spot where you want an unusual frame around a completely ordinary wall clock. The simple black lines on the transparent plastic make fun contours and let the wallpaper or the colour of the wall show through – which is what determines the unique way MORTORP looks in your home.
