Celebrating in bloom

For all of the decorations and lights that make their way into our homes around the holidays, nothing can beat the natural beauty of flowers and plants. Whether you opt for traditional colours like green and red or lean towards something a bit darker (or even stark white), these arrangements pack a stunning punch.

Dreamy white
Embrace the cool feeling with a light and ethereal window display. You’ll be surprised at the impact a minimalist arrangement can make. Try a few glass vases filled with slender twigs decorated with simple ornaments, and opt for elegant flowers like calla lilies. And really set the mood with a beautiful sheer curtain, a cosy sheepskin and a strand of fairy lights to add a sense of warmth.

Moody blooms
We’re all for traditional poinsettias and the like, but sometimes embracing a darker side can be just as nice. Create a beautiful display in a glass cabinet using moss (be sure to line the shelves with a protective mat first), richly coloured greenery and flowers, glass domes, and a few decorative items. Start inside the cabinet and work your way up to its top surface. Don’t forget to use items of different heights to create a visually dynamic feeling.
“I wanted this arrangement to have the feel of an enchanted forest. At first glance it stands apart from other flowers, but it’s still totally festive and gorgeous.”

Fruits and flowers
Take advantage of the beauty of winter fruits. They naturally invoke the much-loved greens and reds we’re often called to decorate with, and you’ll most likely already have fruits like apples, pears and berries (here in Sweden we used lingonberries) on hand. Mix and arrange them with flowers and greenery to instantly brighten up your kitchen. When it comes to choosing vessels and display pieces, think beyond the vase. We chose this colander for the fruits, giving it a twist of its own by creating ribbon decorations through its holes.
