New President and CEO for the IKEA Group

Mikael Ohlsson has been appointed new CEO of the IKEA Group by the board of Ingka Holding BV. He starts his new assignment September 1st, 2009 and replaces Anders Dahlvig, CEO during the past ten years.

Mikael Ohlsson is today working as Regional Manager for Retail Southern Europe and North America and has been a member of the Executive Management Group for the past 15 years. He started his career in the carpet department in the Linköping store and has now been with IKEA for 30 years.

“Mikael Ohlsson has strong implementation skills and is a great ambassador of the IKEA Culture. He is well suited to continue the change process that Anders Dahlvig has initiated. These changes will allow us to offer to the many people an even better IKEA range of well designed, functional home furnishing products at even lower prices and better quality. Increased competition and the crisis in the global economy are also strong reasons for us to review our business” says Göran Grosskopf, Chairman of Ingka Holding BV - the parent company of the IKEA Group.

“Anders Dahlvig’s main assignment has been to carry out the expansion project 10 jobs in 10 years. It is now accomplished and in an excellent way. As an example the number of stores has increased from 130 to 270 and the turnover has increased from 7.3 Billion Euros to 21.3 Billion Euros, a remarkable growth, while still lowering sales prices with on average 2% annually” says Göran Grosskopf.
