Our responsibility
Low prices are the cornerstone of the IKEA vision and our business idea - but not at any price. At the IKEA Group, we believe that taking responsibility for people and the environment is a prerequisite for doing good business.

Products and materials

IKEA works to ensure that products and materials are adapted to minimize any negative impact on the environment, and are safe for customers from a health perspective. As part of our business idea, we insist on keeping costs low and always try to use resources wisely when designing our products. We strive to use renewable and recyclable materials in our products.

National & local community involvement

We believe there is strong integration between being the ‘good company’ and doing ‘good business.’ In all that we do, in all that we develop and produce; there is a constant focus in being environmentally and socially responsible. We work closely with our suppliers to improve their working conditions. We support and help develop modern and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes. We focus on using transport with fewer emissions. We are constantly looking at ways to reduce energy consumption and replace fossil fuels with energy from renewable sources. And we are constantly looking for new ways to make better use of the raw materials used in our ‘everyday living’ products.

Partnerships

IKEA co-operates with companies, trade unions, NGOs and organizations to develop and reinforce the impact of our work within the social and environmental field. By doing so we can learn, share experiences and accomplish more than if we work alone.
