Vitali from Russia

Improving conditions for children with disabilities
Children with disabilities have the right to play, to learn and to be loved. In poorer communities where there is a lack of medicine, health and transport services, disabled children can miss out on education and the chance to interact with people in their community.

Eight-year-old Vitali is the youngest member of the Rosstoshanski family. He is severely disabled, and yet lives on the fifth floor of an old apartment building without an elevator or a balcony.

The Save the Children project in Russia helps families like the Rosstoshanskis enjoy a better life. For Vitali's family this began with a new apartment on the ground floor which enables them to take him outside more often. The project ensures that families with disabled children also have access to information about services and their rights. Peer support, networking and stimulating activities for the children are also provided.
