The IKEA Group
About the IKEA Group
The founder of the IKEA Operations, Ingvar Kamprad, wanted to create an ownership structure and an organization that stand for independence and a long-term approach. That is why, since 1982, the IKEA Group has been owned by a foundation.
The IKEA Group itself encompasses many IKEA operations – the Swedwood industrial group, distribution and warehousing divisions and companies owning stores in countries around the globe.
Stichting INGKA Foundation
The Stichting INGKA Foundation owns the IKEA Group while the INGKA Holding B.V. is the parent company for the IKEA Group. Both are based in the Netherlands. Members of the Supervisory Board of INGKA Holding B.V. are: Göran Grosskopf (Chairman), Jonas Kamprad, Lars-Johan Jarnheimer, Göran Lindahl, Carl Wilhelm Ros, Peter Lund and Luisa Delgado. Ingvar Kamprad, who retired from the management of the IKEA Group in 1986, is Senior Advisor.
IKEA Group Management
IKEA Group Executive Management consists of: Mikael Ohlsson (President and CEO), Petra Hesser, Helen Duphorn, Torbjörn Lööf, Noel Wijsmans, Jesper Brodin, Leif Hultman and Steve Howard.
IKEA Services B.V. and IKEA Services AB

IKEA stores
The IKEA Group operates around 290 IKEA stores in 26 countries under franchise from Inter IKEA Systems B.V. About 40 IKEA stores in 15 countries are operated by other franchisees which are owned outside the IKEA Group.
The IKEA franchise system
Inter IKEA Systems B.V. is the owner of the IKEA Concept worldwide. For the rights to use the IKEA Systems and methods, its continuous development and improvements, the IKEA Group and all other IKEA franchisees pay a franchise fee to Inter IKEA Systems B.V. The relationship between the franchisor Inter IKEA Systems B.V. and its franchisees is a business relationship between independent companies.
