If you’ve ever watched TV in a darkened room you’ll have noticed that your eyes tire quite quickly. This is because the contrast between the bright TV screen and the dark area around it is too great. Some gentle light around the TV will solve this problem and let you enjoy your TV for hours on end. LED strips around the TV will do the job nicely as will table lamps close to the TV. If you have cabinets above the TV you can also attach integrated lighting underneath them.
Incoming daylight can create disturbing reflections and glare on your screen. When planning your TV area, don’t forget to include some way of regulating daylight such as blinds, curtain or panel curtains. If you have a front projector you will need black out blinds.
If you use a ceiling lamp in your TV room it should be fitted with a dimmer so you can regulate its light to the perfect TV-viewing level.
Other points of light Lighting your bookshelves and cabinets will not only help you find what you’re looking for, but will add gentle points of light to the room that will create a cosy, inviting atmosphere and enhance your viewing experience.
