IKEA UK & Ireland reports growth

Despite the tough economic climate, IKEA UK & Ireland has reported that total sales for the year to 31 August 2009 rose by 1.1% to £1.2 billion.

New President and CEO for the IKEA Group


Mikael Ohlsson has been appointed new CEO of the IKEA Group by the board of Ingka Holding BV. He starts his new assignment September 1st, 2009 and replaces Anders Dahlvig, CEO during the past ten years.

IKEA Soft Toys to children in cyclone affected area of Myanmar


Save the Children distributed a total of 200,000 IKEA soft toys to children in Myanmar. This is in response to the emergency caused by the cyclone in spring this year.

IKEA Launches 2008 Soft Toy Campaign


At IKEA we believe that children are the most important people in the world. So when creating products, we think about children’s joy and imagination, development, and safety. Because every one of them should be free to play and learn!

With the money raised during the annual Soft Toys campaign, IKEA Social Initiative supports Save the Children and UNICEF projects in places like China, Vietnam, Africa, Central and Eastern Europe.

Soft Toy Campaign Thank you


Together we have given children a better future!

We broke our record. We exceeded our global soft toy sales goals. From November 3rd to December 24th 2007 almost £3.05 million (4.1 million Euro) was raised globally in IKEA stores to support UNICEF and Save the Children educational programs in developing countries.
How did we do it? We sold lots of cuddly, charming soft toys... we sold our little hearts out!

IKEA Launches £1.3 Million “Foot of Forest” Campaign to Create UK Woodland


Home furnishings company IKEA UK has teamed up with the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity, the Woodland Trust, to help expand the country’s forests.

IKEA Launches Third Soft Toy Campaign - 2007


The annual IKEA soft toys activity, where £1 from the sale of each soft toy sold is donated to UNICEF and Save the Children, finances projects aiming to improve children’s lives.

This year in the UK we aim to raise £275,000. Together with our customers, we can make a difference and give children around the world a chance to go to school. A little can change so much.

IKEA UK today announced two new initiatives to improve sustainability, continuing the retailer’s ongoing commitment to take action to improve all environmental aspects of its business. The latest initiatives involve:

•Giving low-energy light bulbs to the entire UK workforce of 9,600
•Switching its entire company car fleet to low emission hybrids

IKEA Says “Get on Your Bike” In Green Festive Gift Message


IKEA UK today handed over its traditional end-of-year gift – and for 2006 it’s a brand new folding bike. Each co-worker will also be eligible for 15% subsidised travel tickets to encourage more to use public transport to travel to and from work.

The eco-friendly gift choices are part of IKEA’s continued commitment to improve all environmental aspects of its business.
