Production of the IKEA Catalogue is regulated in the code of conduct The IKEA Way on Purchasing Marketing Products and Services, which covers both social issues and specific requirements for the paper and printing industry. Suppliers of the IKEA Catalogue and other marketing materials must adhere to all requirements identified in the code of conduct.
IKEA catalogue suppliers must comply with the IKEA code of conduct, IWAY. In addition, there are industry specific requirements for pulp and paper, artwork, repro and IT online service, and for gravure and offset printing. IKEA makes an annual follow-up of suppliers’ implementation of these requirements.
New Catalogue format
A more compact IKEA Catalogue format was tested in a few countries in 2008 and was introduced on all markets in 2009. This has had positive impacts on paper and energy use, and on CO2 emissions. The new format enables more efficient transportation, and generates less paper spill in the production.
