Welcome back meatballs, we missed you!

Our tasty high quality meatballs are back on the IKEA Restaurant menu. Served the traditional Swedish way with cream sauce, lingonberry jam and mashed potatoes.

With even stricter control routines in place, we are confident that meatballs produced from now on contain what we say that they contain, and live up to our high quality standards every day, in every way.

We want to offer quality food products at low prices. At the same time we want you to know that we source food products in a responsible manner. We are working in all parts of the food chain, from the farm to the IKEA store, to be able to offer food you can trust.
Animal Welfare

Animal Welfare

We support animal husbandry where consideration is shown to the animals at all times, from rearing to slaughter. That is why we, for example, don’t allow force feeding or live plucking of geese and duck.

We are also developing and implementing welfare standards for farm animals. IKEA cooperates with Compassion in World Farming in the field of animal welfare.
Good chicken

Good chicken

We have introduced our first animal welfare standard on broiler chicken, developed together with Compassion in World Farming (CIWF). It means that the chicken must have natural light through windows, perching and pecking objects, and straw bales to encourage the search for food. The animal welfare standard also means more space for each bird.
Free from trans fats

Free from trans fats

Trans fatty acids are used to make liquid fat harder in order to add crispness or hardness to a product. Industrially produced Trans fats are suspected to have negative health impact. IKEA branded food products are all free from industrially produced Trans fats.
Food safety

Food safety

We want our customers to feel confident that the food served and sold at IKEA is safe and of good quality. That is why we require our suppliers to have special quality programs in place.

Also, all our stores in the UK & IE are subjected to independent, unannounced food safety management audits to ensure the highest level of food safety training and food safety standards.
UTZ Certified coffee

UTZ Certified coffee

All coffee sold and served at IKEA is UTZ Certified. We want you to know that it was produced in a responsible and sustainable way. UTZ Certified is an independent not-for-profit organization that sets a standard for responsible coffee growing and sourcing. All our coffee is traceable all the way back to the plantations.

Organic, sustainable agriculture

We want to support and encourage organic farming by offering organic food to our customers. Organic means farming without chemical pesticides and fertilizers. It also means higher animal welfare standards.

Today we have some 20 organic products in our Swedish Food Market range, such as jam, coffee, pasta and more. We also serve organic food in our restaurants.
Responsibly sourced seafood

Responsibly sourced seafood

We are well aware of the depletion of many fish species in our oceans and committed not to purchase fish from endangered stocks. IKEA has also decided not to sell and serve fish and seafood red listed by IUCN and/or WWF.

Herring The herring served and sold at IKEA comes from sustainable fisheries. This means that the herring comes from well balanced stocks where the fish is caught with consideration for the ocean life and methods that minimize by-catch.

Salmon IKEA participates in the Salmon Dialogue, a multi-stakeholder dialogue, initiated by WWF. The dialogue is developing a standard for sustainable salmon farming.
