What happens after I have placed my order?

How will I know you have received my order?
We will send you an order acknowledgement email as soon as you have paid for your order. This email contains details of the products you have ordered, the total cost of the order including delivery, and your order number. The order acknowledgement email is also your VAT receipt for your goods.
Where does my order come from?
Once your order is placed, it drops into our delivery planning system and is picked and delivered from our central distribution warehouse in Peterborough. We do not deliver any online orders from IKEA stores.
When will you confirm my delivery date?
You will see an estimated delivery date on the website when you have placed your order; this is also communicated in your order acknowledgement email.

Within 72 hrs a confirmed delivery date will then be communicated in your Delivery Advice email, which also specifies if your delivery will made either by a parcel courier or 2 man truck delivery. We will also send you an SMS text message to confirm your date.

We do try to meet the estimated delivery dates but there are some instances where we are unable to do this and in these cases, your confirmed delivery date maybe different. We would advise you not to make any plans to take your delivery, for example booking time off from work, until we have confirmed this date with you.
What happens when my delivery date is confirmed?
Once we have confirmed your delivery date our delivery team start to plan your order to be picked, double checking all your products are available and reserving these in our warehouse for you. Your order is then routed onto our delivery vehicle 48 hours before we deliver to you.
What delivery communication can I expect?


Parcel delivery
We will update our order tracking website with your Parcel Force tracking number 24-48 hours before delivery. You can then use this site to track your order.

Truck delivery
When we have confirmed your order date there will be a few more things that we would like to keep you up to date with, so you will receive the following text messages from us.

48 hours before your delivery, we will text you with your AM or PM 4 hour delivery window. If you want to change your delivery slot at this stage, there may be a charge, which you can either accept to pay, or opt to cancel your order. This is with the exception of made to order goods, which cannot be cancelled after we have sent your Delivery Advice email.

On the day of delivery, our delivery team will call you 1 hour before your delivery is due to ensure that you are available to take delivery and to check that there are no unexpected access restrictions.
Do I need to be there on the day of delivery?
If your order is coming out to you via Parcelforce then you don’t need to be at home. The Parcel Force driver will leave a card to rearrange delivery for a more suitable date or to let you know that your order can be collected from the local collection depot.

If your delivery is being delivered to you via our 2 man delivery truck service, and you are not able to accept delivery, please make sure that there will be someone available to accept delivery on your behalf. This person must be an adult who is capable of receiving delivery and able to give the delivery team instructions if they are needed. The person accepting delivery will need to sign the delivery document to confirm delivery has taken place.
Will you assemble my furniture?
We don’t offer this service at the present time and the delivery drivers won’t be able to assemble your furniture however they will, wherever possible, deliver your products to the room of your choice.
What if I change my mind and I don’t want the order?
Please advise us as early as possible if you no longer want your order. Once your order has been planned for picking and delivery it is very difficult to cancel your order, so the more notice we have the better.
Made to order products
There are certain products that can’t be cancelled at any time once the order has been placed. These products are called made to order products and are just that, they are made or manufactured to your order, which means that they carry different terms and conditions. We will notify you that you have a made to order product within 24 hours of placing your order and ensure you are happy to proceed with your purchase and understand the different terms and conditions.
