More sustainable cotton across the IKEA range

Cotton is soft and breathable, so it has excellent comfort qualities – plus it’s a renewable resource. Our goal is to offer cotton products produced in a responsible manner at prices so low that the many people can afford them.

Volumes of more sustainable cotton from IKEA and WWF project farmers have increased substantially over the past few years. We are committed to using it for products across the range, rather than directing it towards individual textiles.

Some of the project farmers’ cotton production is available on the open market. This speeds up the process of making conventional cotton produced in a more sustainable manner a tradable commodity available to all.

For updated figures on the amount of more sustainable cotton used in the IKEA range, please see the annual IKEA Sustainability Report as a pdf.

IKEA aims to always use resources as wisely as possible. For example DVALA bed linen is made out of more sustainable cotton and the fabric is woven using 15% less cotton but still feels just as good as comparable bed linen.
