General conditions for all warranties

What is covered under the Warranty?
The extent of the warranty given for each product is described alongside each product below.

Duration of Warranty
Each warranty lasts for the number of years stated against each product below, starting from the date of purchase.

What will be done to correct the problem?
IKEA or Whirlpool Canada LP in the case of “for IKEA by Whirlpool” products, will examine the product and decide, at its sole discretion, if it’s covered under this warranty. IKEA, or Whirlpool Canada LP (hereafter “Whirlpool”) through its own service operations or authorized service partner, will then, at its sole discretion, either repair the defective product or replace it with the same or a comparable product. In these cases, IKEA or Whirlpool will be responsible for the costs of repairs, spare parts, labour and travel for repair staff that IKEA or Whirlpool incurs, provided that the product is accessible for repair without IKEA or Whirlpool incurring additional expenditure to gain access. This will not apply in cases where repair work has not been authorized by IKEA or Whirlpool (or its authorized service partner). Any defective parts removed in the course of repair works will become the property of IKEA or Whirlpool. If the item is no longer sold by IKEA, IKEA will provide an appropriate replacement. IKEA or Whirlpool will decide at its own discretion, what will constitute an appropriate replacement.

Conditions of warranty
Each warranty is valid from the date of purchase at IKEA. The original purchase receipt is required as proof of purchase.

Exclusions
The warranty does not apply to products that have been stored or assembled incorrectly, used inappropriately, abused, misused, altered, or cleaned with wrong cleaning methods or wrong cleaning products. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, cuts or scratches, or damage caused by impacts or accidents. The warranty does not apply if products have been placed outdoors or in a humid environment or if the products have been used for non-domestic purposes (unless otherwise stated). The warranty does not cover consequential or incidental damages.

This warranty is to benefit the original purchaser of the product. All warranties on products sold within Canada are not transferable beyond the original purchaser with the exception of residents of the province of Saskatchewan. General Legal Rights This warranty gives you specific legal rights. This warranty does not, in any way, affect the rights given to you by law. You may also have other rights under applicable provincial law. IKEA is not responsible for incidental or consequential damages. Some provinces do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or limitations on the warranties, so these exclusions or limitations may not apply to you.

Proof of purchase is required for the warranty to be valid.

TUNDRA
What is covered under this warranty?
We guarantee that in normal use the flooring will not wear through, not fade from sunlight and not stain permanently. TUNDRA flooring complies with User Class 31 of EN 13329 which means it is suitable for use in all rooms in a home, except for rooms such as bathrooms, damp cellars and rooms with a floor drain, and is also suitable for light commercial use, such as flooring with light wear in small offices and meeting places – not in shops. This flooring should not be used in shops and other commercial areas with higher traffic. See also general conditions on this page.

SPARSAM 3 year IKEA Everyday quality warranty
What is covered under this warranty?
This warranty covers function, materials and workmanship in all low-energy bulbs and tubes in the SPARSAM series.
What is not covered under this warranty?
This warranty does not apply if the product has been placed in a temperature under -10 degrees Celsius or over +40 degrees Celsius. If used in a humid environment such as a bathroom or solarium, SPARSAM may only be used with light fixtures approved for wet locations.

Freestanding kitchens
What products are covered under this warranty?
This warranty covers defects in material and workmanship on all the parts in the VÄRDE free-standing kitchen series. Products not covered under this warranty VÄRDE knobs and handles, shelves and wall shelves in solid wood are not covered by this warranty. See also general conditions on page 366.

LAGAN kitchen system
The LAGAN series is not covered by warranty at all.
KITCHEN FAUCETS
What products are covered under this warranty?
The 10-year warranty is valid for all kitchen mixer taps at IKEA, except LAGAN kitchen mixer tap. This warranty covers defects in material and workmanship. This warranty applies to domestic use only.
What is not covered under this warranty?
This warranty does not apply if the products have been used in a corrosive environment. See also general conditions on page 366.
5 year IKEA Everyday quality warranty
APPLIANCES
What is covered under this warranty?
The warranty covers faults of the appliance, which can be proved to have been caused by faulty construction or material faults from the date of purchase from IKEA. The warranty applies only when this major appliance is operated and maintained according to instructions attached to or furnished with the product. This warranty applies to domestic use only. Whirlpool Canada LP (hereafter “Whirlpool”) will pay for Factory Specified Parts and repair labour to correct defects in materials or workmanship. Within the warranty period, the costs to remedy the fault e.g. repairs, parts, labour and travel will be covered, provided that the appliance is accessible for repair without special expenditure. Replaced parts become the property of IKEA. The exceptions are specified under the headline “What is not covered under this warranty?”.

How long is the warranty valid?
This warranty is valid for five (5) years from the original date of purchase of the IKEA appliance from IKEA. LAGAN appliances have a one (1) year warranty. If service work is carried out under warranty, this will not extend the warranty period for the appliance, or for the new parts.

Which appliances are covered under this warranty?
The five-year (5) warranty is valid for all IKEA appliances, except for LAGAN appliances, that have a 1-year warranty.

Appliances not covered under this warranty.
All appliances purchased from IKEA before August 1st, 2009 will be covered under the previous stated one (1) year warranty.

Who will execute the service?

This will not apply in cases where repair work has not been authorized by Whirlpool (or its authorized service partner).

What is not covered under this warranty?
Service calls to correct the installation of your major appliance, to instruct you on how to use your major appliance, to replace or repair house fuses, or to correct house wiring or plumbing is not covered. Service calls to repair or replace appliance light bulbs, air filters or water filters. Consumable parts are excluded from warranty coverage. Repairs when your major appliance is used for other than normal, single-family household use or when it is used in a manner that is contrary to published user or operator instructions and/or installation instructions. Damage resulting from accident, alteration, misuse, abuse, fire, flood, acts of God, improper installation, installation not in accordance with electrical or plumbing codes, or use of consumables or cleaning products not approved for use. Cosmetic damage, including scratches, dents, chips or other damage to the finish of your major appliance, unless such damage results from defects in materials or workmanship and is reported within 30 days from the date of purchase. Any food loss due to refrigerator or freezer product failures. Costs associated with the removal from your home of your major appliance for repairs. This major appliance is designed to be repaired in the home and only in-home service is covered by this warranty. Repairs or parts or systems resulting from unauthorized modifications made to the appliance. Expenses for travel and transportation for product service if your major appliance is located in a remote area where service by an authorized servicer is not available. The removal and reinstallation of your major appliance if it is installed in an inaccessible location or is not installed in accordance with published installation instructions. Major appliances with original model/serial numbers that have been removed, altered or cannot be easily determined. This warranty is void if the factory applied serial number has been altered or removed from your major appliance. The cost of repair or replacement under these excluded circumstances shall be borne by the customer.
Transportation damages are not covered under this warranty. If a customer transports the product to their home or other address themselves, IKEA is not liable for any damage that may occur during transport. However, in case of IKEA delivery of the product to the customer’s delivery address, then eventual damages to the product that occurs during this delivery will be covered by IKEA (but not under this warranty). For claims under this last particular condition the customer should contact the IKEA store where original purchase was made. See also general conditions on page 366.

SLITBAR
What is covered under this warranty?
This warranty covers function, materials and workmanship in all knives in the above listed series. This means that, in normal domestic use and provided that our care instructions are followed, the knives will still work as well as they did when they were new, for the number of years shown on the respective logos above. In this instance, normal use is defined as using (for cutting food) and cleaning the knife by hand after use and regular sharpening. The warranty covers: • Sharpness of the knife.
The knife shall be sharp when you buy it and you will be able to keep it sharp so it can function properly, every day. The knife blade is made of a steel that is hardened so that it is possible to sharpen the knife to original sharpness anytime during the warranty period. • Durable handle. The handle of the knife should not crack, break or come loose from the blade so that the knife is not possible to use. • That there will not be any corrosion on the knife blade.
Products not covered under this warranty
The following products in the SLITBAR series are not covered under the warranty: • SLITBAR carving fork (part of a set with carving fork and carving knife) • SLITBAR knife block dark brown/stainless steel • SLITBAR sharpening steel 25 diamond coated/stainless steel dark brown. 15 year IKEA Everyday quality warranty
GYNNSAM, IKEA 365+ GNISTRA
What is covered under this warranty?
This warranty covers function, materials and workmanship in all knives in the above listed series. This means that, in normal domestic use and provided that our care instructions are followed, the knives will still work as well as they did when they were new, for the number of years shown on the respective logos above. In this instance, normal use is defined as using (for cutting food) and cleaning the knife by hand after use and regular sharpening. The warranty covers: • Sharpness of the knife.
The knife shall be sharp when you buy it and you will be able to keep it sharp so it can function properly, every day. The knife blade is made of a steel that is hardened so that it is possible to sharpen the knife to original sharpness anytime during the warranty period. • Durable handle. The handle of the knife should not crack, break or come loose from the blade so that the knife is not possible to use. • That there will not be any corrosion on the knife blade.
EVERYDAY QUALITY WARRANTY
The original receipt is needed for all product warranties. Goods purchased from AS-IS are not subject to usual IKEA warranties.
