Important recall information
IKEA wants customers who have bought a FEMTON clamp spot light to bring it back to their IKEA store where they will receive a full refund.

The Swedish National Electricity Safety Board has tested the spot light and claims the construction of the lamp could create a risk of over-heating. IKEA has received no reports or complaints from
customers of incidents involving over-heating of FEMTON clamp spot lights however; safety is always of the highest priority at IKEA and that is why FEMTON clamp spot light is being recalled as a precautionary measure.

The FEMTON clamp spot light is a so called “goose-neck” lamp with a flexible stem which allows the beam to be directed at will. Tests have shown a variation of the stiffness of the flexible stem meaning that some lamps could be positioned with the bulb too close to a surface area for example a wall, shelf or table top which could result in over-heating. This is of course not acceptable and immediate measures have been implemented to secure future deliveries.

The FEMTON clamp spot light concerned is produced in China and has been sold since 2004 in Europe, Asia and Australia. It is marked with a four digit date stamp (YYWW), a five digit supplier no (17796), IKEA logo and country of manufacturer.
Another version of the FEMTON clamp spot light is sold in North America; this version is not affected by the recall.

IKEA recalls BARNSLIG sleeping bag.

IKEA has received two customer reports where the zip bottom stop has detached from the zipper which also makes it possible for the zip slider to detach. Both parts could present a choking hazard to small children. No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the failure was poor quality of the zipper. We have stopped sales and production of BARNSLIG sleeping bags and we are now reviewing our routines to secure the quality of BARNSLIG.

Children’s safety is always a top priority at IKEA. All products are subject to comprehensive risk analysis and assessment during the development process. As a guiding principle; wherever possible IKEA applies the strictest requirements on any of our sales markets. If an IKEA product does not live up to our demands we act immediately.

The sleeping bags are produced in Indonesia and have been sold since April 2008 on all markets except USA, Canada and the United Arab Emirates. Customers who have a BARNSLIG sleeping bag with date stamps 0745 to 0824 are asked to bring it back to their local IKEA store for a full refund. The date stamp (yyww) is to be found on a label sewn inside the sleeping bag.
