Measure it
Like baking, getting all the measurements exactly right is essential. All you need is a little time and patience. Oh, and a tape measure.

- Watch the video and then give yourself plenty of time to measure precisely.

- Start by measuring from the floor to the ceiling, then the distance between the walls, and from the corners to the doors.

- Measure each window and their distances from the floor, the ceiling and the corners of your room. Do the same for the door(s).

• Measure your space a couple of times – always in millimetres. Remember, accuracy will make everything easier in the long run.

• Mark down anything that sticks out into the room such as ventilator shafts and pipes.

• Note the position of your drains and water supply and if you’re planning to relocate them, mark their new positions.

• Measure and note the position of existing power outlets and light switches. Mark where you would like the new ones to be.
Plan it
This part is the difference between a kitchen that works and one that doesn’t. There are lots of things to consider, like where to put the fridge, how you want your cabinets arranged and how many drawers you’ll need.
