Child rights programmes in cotton and cotton seed farming in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, India.
Since 2005, IKEA Social Initiative supports UNICEF to implement child rights programmes to eliminate child labour and promote quality education in cotton and cotton seed areas of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
The programmes aim to create a protective environment for children in more than 1,847 villages of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka by:
- Mainstreaming children into formal schools
- Improving quality education
- Organising young collectives and empowering them to influence their communities.
