We are confident in the quality of our products and many items are covered by guarantees. Below you will find a list of all our guarantees.
What is guaranteed?
The extent of the guarantee given for each product is described alongside each product below.

What is the duration of the guarantee?
Each guarantee lasts for the number of years stated against each product below, starting from the date of purchase.

What will IKEA do to correct the problem?
IKEA will examine the product and decide if it’s covered under this guarantee. IKEA will then, at its choice, either repair the defective product or replace it with the same or a comparable product. In these cases, IKEA will be responsible for the costs of repairs, spare parts, labour and travel for repair staff that IKEA incurs, provided that the product is accessible for repair without IKEA incurring additional expenditure to gain access. This will not apply in cases where repair work has not been authorised by IKEA. Any defected parts removed in the course of repair works will become the property of IKEA. If the item is no longer sold by IKEA, IKEA will provide an appropriate replacement. IKEA will decide at its discretion, what will constitute an appropriate replacement.

Conditions for the guarantees
The guarantees are valid from the date of purchase at IKEA. The original purchase receipt is required as proof of purchase.

Exclusions
The guarantees do not apply to products that have been stored or assembled incorrectly, used inappropriately, abused, misused, altered, or cleaned with wrong cleaning methods or wrong cleaning products. The guarantees do not cover atypical wear and tear, cuts or scratches, or damage caused by impacts or accidents. The guarantees do not apply if products have been placed outdoors or in a humid environment or if the products have been used for non-domestic purposes (unless otherwise stated). The guarantees do not cover consequential or incidental damages. The guarantees are to the benefit of the original purchaser of the product. They are not transferable. Care instructions
To be able to rely on this guarantee you need to follow the specific care instructions for every product. You will find all care instructions in the IKEA stores and on the IKEA website.

General legal rights:
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. The benefits under our guarantee are in addition to other rights and remedies under law in relation to the goods.

This guarantee applies to domestic use only and covers defects in material and workmanship in the following furniture:

What is not covered under this guarantee?
This guarantee does not apply to ALDERN counter top neither to products that have been stored, assembled or installed incorrectly, used inappropriately, abused, misused, altered or cleaned with wrong cleaning methods or cleaning products. This guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear, cuts, scratches or damage caused by impacts or accidents. This guarantee does not apply if the products have been used for public use, outdoors or in a corrosive environment. This guarantee does not cover consequential or incidental damages.
What is covered under this guarantee?
This guarantee is valid for all bathroom wash-basins including water trap and mixer taps at IKEA. The guarantee applies to domestic use only and covers defects in material and workmanship in all bathroom wash-basins and mixer taps. Our products are tested well beyond all relevant international standards and we use only top brand components to secure our 10 year guarantee promise.

What is not covered under this guarantee?
This guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear, cuts or scratches, or damage caused by impacts, accidents or waterborne debris. It also does not apply to the filter/aerator of the mixer tap which should be cleaned regularly or replaced when worn out. Follow our assembly instructions and care instructions carefully. This guarantee does not apply to products that have been stored, assembled or installed incorrectly, used inappropriately, abused, misused, altered, or cleaned with wrong cleaning methods or wrong cleaning products. This guarantee does not apply if the products have been used for public use, outdoors or in a corrosive environment. It also does not cover accidental damage.

This guarantee covers defects in materials and workmanship in the following components of the mattresses and/or bed bases described below, and is valid from the date of purchase from IKEA:

• Springs in reversible sprung mattresses.
• Foam core in foam mattresses.
• Latex core in latex mattresses.
• Wooden frame and slats in slatted bed bases.

What is covered under this guarantee?
We guarantee that in normal use the flooring will not wear through, not fade from sunlight and not stain permanently.

IKEA flooring complies with User Class 31 of EN 13329 which means it is suitable for use in all rooms in a home, except for rooms such as bathrooms, damp cellars and basements and rooms with a floor drain, and is also suitable for light commercial use, such as flooring with light wear in small offices and meeting places – not in shops.
What is not covered under this guarantee?
This guarantee does not apply if IKEA flooring has been used inappropriately, abused, misused, altered, or cleaned with wrong cleaning methods or wrong cleaning products.

This guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear, cuts or scratches, or damage caused by impacts or accidents.

This guarantee does not apply if the floor has not been laid according to the floor laying instructions supplied by IKEA.

This guarantee does not apply if the floor has been laid in an area other than those recommended by IKEA.

This guarantee does not cover consequential or incidental damage.

How long is the guarantee valid?
The guarantee for the METOD kitchen system remains in force for twenty-five (25) years and is valid from the date of purchase. The original purchase receipt is required as proof of purchase. Kitchen mixer taps and IKEA appliances are covered by their own guarantees found in separate guarantee brochures.

What is covered under this guarantee?
This guarantee applies to domestic use only and covers defects in material and workmanship in the METOD kitchen system. This guarantee is to the benefit of the original purchaser of the product. It is not transferable.

METOD kitchen system
What products are covered under this guarantee?
This guarantee applies to domestic kitchen use only. This guarantee covers all of the following parts of the METOD kitchen system:
  • Cabinet frames
  • Fronts
  • UTRUSTA hinges
  • MAXIMERA fully-extending drawers
  • UTRUSTA shelves of tempered glass and melamine
  • Plinths
  • Legs
  • Cover panels

FYNDIG is not covered by this guarantee.

FAKTUM kitchen system
After more than 20 years of production, we have replaced our FAKTUM kitchen system with the METOD kitchen system. We stand behind the quality of our products and will continue to honour all FAKTUM guarantees.

FÖRVARA drawers, UTRUSTA wire baskets, TUTEMO and HÖRDA open cabinet have a 10-year guarantee.
UTRUSTA push-opener, electrical has a 5-year guarantee.
METOD guarantee (PDF)
Appliances
How long is the guarantee valid?
This guarantee is valid for five (5) years from the original date of purchase of the IKEA appliance from IKEA. LAGAN appliances, refrigerators and laundry appliances have a two (2) year guarantee, valid from the original date of purchase.

The original sales receipt is required as proof of purchase.

If service work is carried out under guarantee, this will not extend the guarantee period for the appliance, or for the new parts.

What is covered under this guarantee?
The guarantee covers faults of the appliance, which have been caused by faulty construction or material faults from the date of purchase from IKEA. This guarantee applies to domestic use only. The exceptions are specified under the headline “What is not covered under this guarantee?”

Within the guarantee period, the costs to remedy the fault e.g. repairs, parts, labour and travel will be covered, provided that the appliance is accessible for repair without special expenditure.

On these conditions the EU guidelines (Nr. 99/44/EG) and the respective local regulations are applicable. Replaced parts become the property of IKEA.

Which appliances are covered under this guarantee?
The five-year (5) guarantee is valid for all domestic IKEA appliances and covers defects in materials and workmanship.

Which appliances are not covered under this guarantee?
All appliances purchased from IKEA before 19th of August 2013.

Who will execute the service?
The IKEA service provider will provide the service through its own service operations or authorised service partner network.

What is not covered under this guarantee?
Deliberate or negligent damage, damage caused by failure to observe operating instructions, incorrect installation or by connection to the wrong voltage, damage caused by chemical or electro-chemical reaction, rust, corrosion or water damage including but not limited to damage caused by excessive lime in the water supply, damage caused by abnormal environmental conditions.
• Consumable parts including batteries and lamps
• Non-functional and decorative parts which do not affect normal use of the appliance, including any scratches and possible colour differences
• Accidental damage caused by foreign objects or substances and cleaning or unblocking of filters, drainage systems or soap drawers
• Damage to the following parts: ceramic glass, accessories, crockery and cutlery baskets, feed and drainage pipes, seals, lamps and lamp covers, screens, knobs, casings and parts of casings. Unless such damages can be proved to be due to production faults.
• Cases where no fault could be found during a technician’s visit
• Repairs not carried out by our appointed service providers and/ or an authorised service contractual partner or where nonoriginal parts have been used
• Repairs caused by installation which is faulty or not according to specification
• The use of the appliance in a non-domestic environment, i.e. professional use
• Transportation damages. If a customer transports the product to their home or other address, IKEA is not liable for any damage that may occur during transport. However, in case of IKEA delivery of the product to the customer’s delivery address, then eventual damages to the product that occurs during this delivery will be covered by IKEA (but not under this guarantee). For claims under this last particular condition, the customer should contact IKEA Customer Service at IKEA.com.au
• Cost for carrying out the initial installation of the IKEA appliance.
