An easy start
Not quite sure where or how to begin? Just pick a favourite item in your room. We love the colours in this painting (our interior designer, Lina, made it!), so it became the foundation for the style of the space. By adding in pillows in complimentary shades, the room got an instant boost of energy, while feeling more cohesive.
Coordinate, coordinate, coordinate
The trick to going all out with textiles? Choose pieces with similar colours and patterns, but try mixing different materials and textures to make things a bit more interesting. You’ll be shocked how much you can keep adding to the room when things feel coordinated. And, yes, you can definitely hang a rug on the wall.
Form and function unite
Beautiful textiles can be functional, and functional textiles can be stylish! Take this standard, white curtain. Everyone knows it serves its purpose in keeping light and drafts at bay, but check out what a difference it makes to tie the end in a loose knot. A rug keeps our feet warm, but it also creates definition and structure in a room. And this incredible botanical textile sets the entire tone of the space, while serving as a room divider.
Up the walls
Yes, we just went on about function. But sometimes we love beauty for beauty’s sake alone. Try softening up your wall space with a lovely textile, like this chunky woven one (if you love woven pieces, you can see another cool way to use them here). And once again, we’re tying together the room with coordinated colours.
