Spice up your spice storage

28 May 2015

Keeping spices organised and close at hand when cooking might just inspire some new culinary adventures. So here are some practical and decorative ways to store yours.

If your botanical expertise is limited, labels are a smart way to keep track of your spices.

Behind closed doors

Hanging your spices on the inside of your pantry door will give them a cool and dry storage place. Fill plastic bags with spices you use often for quick and easy access when preparing your favourite dishes.

Laying low

If you store your spices in a drawer, spice trays are a handy way to keep them in order. Use clear jars with labels and they’ll be even easier to find.

On a oak worktop stands a white candle dish with one white and one dark-blue spice mills together with two glass and aliminium colured spice jars, behind stands one oak and one beech chopping board.

On the move

A decorative and practical solution is to place the spices and seasoning you use most on a tray. The tray collects the spills from mills and shakers and you can easily move the whole tray between your cooking and dining areas.
