Make yourself a window seat

01 September 2015

Adding a soft wool rug and favourite cushion to the windowsill in this Stockholm studio apartment has turned it into an extra seat and given homeowner Nor a spot to collect her thoughts in the morning. ‘I’m here at 7:10 each day. I boil coffee and pour a mug in time to see the sun rise.’ #thelittlethings

A small corner of calm

‘There’s something healthy about finding what you need in your own home,’ says Nor. ‘I live and work in the heart of a big city and that’s cool, but sometimes you get locked into the 9-5 routine and it can overtake you. I try to give myself a little space and time to do the things that make me feel good before I start my working day. I get up early so I have time to light candles – I love their cosy light. I put on music, boil my coffee and carefully choose my mug. I go around the flat and smell my flowers, water my plants then pour my coffee and take my seat in the window. It’s a small moment of bliss I cherish.’

“I try to focus on the present, to feel the calm in everyday moments. It’s a conscious effort but it is so rewarding”
