IKEA and the IKEA Foundation honoured at Save the Children’s first ever Corporate Business Awards
[International]  On 22nd September, at Save the Children’s first ever Corporate Business Awards, IKEA and the IKEA Foundation were recognised for outstanding contributions to the Save the Children’s work.
IKEA and the IKEA Foundation were presented an award for Exceptional Achievements in Programme Funding. They were chosen to receive this award because of the support IKEA and the IKEA Foundation have given to Save the Children to help them make a child’s right to a healthy and secure childhood with access to education a reality. Since 2003, this annual global Soft Toy Campaign has raised over 35.2 millions Euros, which has supported 95 projects in 45 countries, helping 8 million of the world’s most disadvantaged children to enjoy an education they may not have otherwise received.

Save the Children’s Chief Executive Justin Forsyth and ambassador Natasha Kaplinsky presented the award to Martin Hansson, IKEA’s UK and Ireland Country Manager. After the awards presentation Natasha Kaplinsky gave an inspirational speech about visits to India and South Africa, where she has witnessed firsthand the difference that corporate support is making to children’s lives.

Douglas Rouse, Corporate Partnerships Director at Save the Children said:

“We were delighted to have the opportunity to recognise the invaluable support and achievements of IKEA and the IKEA Foundation for the first time at Save the Children’s Corporate Business Awards. Through this support we are working to save children’s lives in the world’s poorest countries and ensure their right to an education is fulfilled.”
